Eminent Domain Public Hearing Reminder
On Monday March 19th Keene residents will be able to voice their opinions before Keene City Council on whether or not eminent domain should be used to forcibly take land from Tom Eaton to be used for the proposed roundabout at the Marlboro, Winchester, and Main Street intersection. The public hearing will start at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
Many council members seem to think they have the right to do whatever they want so long as the “public good†is kept in mind. In this case, what is deemed best for the public will cost tax payers over $4 million and involve taking private property to build a roundabout many Keene residents do not agree with.
It is important that concerned individuals attend the public hearing this Monday to oppose the forcible taking of private property. While I am personally partial to roundabouts, this particular roundabout not only involves theft, but also a ridiculously high and rising price-tag Keene residents will see on their tax bills for years to come.

Hi Guys,
Public good?????
Who defines “public good”???
Only the ones that want a particular project done??
Find out who the people are that are pushing this, they have a personal reason for wanting this done. It’s obvious that most of the people that live in Keene DO NOT want their tax money spent on such a “pie in the sky” project.
Who are these “city council” persons? where do they live in Keene? who do they know? who is going to profit from this project?………NOT THE TAX PAYERS OF KEENE!
roundabout??THEY ARE GIVING US THE ROUNDABOUT!!!

I live, literally, behind the post office. I watch people coming and going from Fletcher’s Funeral Home almost everyday. This business is no eyesore, or unwanted in way that I can tell.
The creation of this round-a-bout just down the street from me will be a major nuisance. The cost is another.
I see no public good that will come of this. By the time this project is a bloated over budget Albatross like the ‘Big Dig’ in Boston, these politicians will be long gone from office. What do they care of the mess they will make?
Don’t forget to come tonight to the hearing – 6:00 PM. Download signs from bottom of page here: http://www.castlecoalition.org/HandsOffMyHome/index.html
