I love the Philosophy of Liberty animation, it’s a great instructional and conversation-starting tool… but I really love how it’s used here. It is so hard to disagree on any one point: “Do you own your life? If murder is stealing a person’s future, is theft of their present anything but slavery? …” and so on.

Your engaging Q&A session with your guest is great. Her new-agey assertion that “you cannot truly lose your present, [no matter how you are imprisoned]” and that “you cannot lose your past [even if your property is taken]” were most instructive.

How about, “OK, lady, so you don’t mind if I take your wallet, and chain you in my house to you can wash the floors; OK? Oh, so that would be a problem… heh”

Anyway, fundamental issue is that she believes a group of people validly can take ownership of her life, even if she is harming nobody… because “Society” owns her. At least partially.
