Black Prince writes:

" Do you think I am not experienced with the law?

I worked for Charles Pickering when he was Jones County Prosecutor. I carried a gun and a badge in Jones County for 27 years. I LIVED those things that you think you know all about and I saw what the politicians did to the most upright, honest, good man I’ve ever met when he was appointed to the 5 Th Circuit Court. They lied about his record and no one in the media went so far as to check it out to see the truth.

His life, and the lives of his family, was in constant jeopardy for YEARS in Jones County because of what he did to right the wrongs being done in civil rights. Sam Bowers, whom I also knew very well, and the KKK had an open contract on him and he NEVER knew when he drove down some county road that a load of buckshot wasn’t going to come through the windshield. His cattle were shot standing in their pasture and his prized bird dogs were poisoned. He and his family received constant threats and all hours of the night.

It wasn’t the black people who changed the south and Jim Crow; it was white people like Charlie Pickering because they were the only ones with the power to do it. If it were not for MANY white men all across the south like him, we would still have Jim Crow. Martin King gave it national attention, but it was men like Pickering that actually did the dangerous work in county courthouses all across the south and every one of them paid a high price for doing it. Charlie is STILL paying a high price for having done the right thing under great duress and he get’s absolutely no respect for it. It’s no wonder more people don’t want to stick their necks out to do the right thing if these men are an example of how the public rewards them for doing it.

Don’t lecture me on the law you arrogant know-it-all."

Charles likely didn't bother you with his political responsibilities to the Bushes..

Pickering was Jones Co. Attorney when the decision was made to not prosecute Sam for the murders of the three voting rights activists in Philadelhia Miss. Likewise when Vernon Dahmer was killed for registering Blacks to vote.

As Federal Judge he protected the Jones Co. legal system by throwing out a case against them. Savannah Ramsey sued them for setting a dog on her inside the police station. His grounds was that she had not proven that the City(Laurel, capitol of JC) is responsible for the actions of an officer.
He was a patriot protecting the good law officers. Good people who worked to protect those "brave freedom fighters"(Contras) by protecting the airplanes returning from Honduras after delivering non-lethal aid. Protecting the coke,
I don't feel Reagan knew but certainly Oliver north, Daddy Bush did. We voters put these good leaders and their law in power.
I agree that co-operating with a lawman is smart and talking to his honor will tend to bring it out. Their jobs depend on not violating the law. With them as with everybody I hope to appear as a good old nigger--someone who doesn't act like he's above other folks and has some years of experience
Please respond, let's go to town where it's legal to possess a beer and have one

Ranger, I don't remember who said it but there's a quote: "There might be two libertarians that agree on everything, but I'm not one of them."

Like all thing, we're human and subject to the whims of human opinion. As long as we can agree that people should be free to do what they want so long as they don't harm anyone else, then we're on the right track.

You might be interested in checking out a libertarian radio show, Free Talk Live. One of the hosts is the owner of this website. They're on 6 nights per week http://listen.freetalklive.com
The concept of the show is that you can call and talk about anything. A lot of people here are listeners, but you'd be more than welcome to call in and give your thoughts.

They're also on in Tupelo and Vickburg, but I'm not sure if you can get those in Jones County.

I knew you had to be from the deep south. You seem to have more sanity and character than some of the nut cases I've read posting here. It's my first time. I've never heard of these guys. I'm from the area in question and It made me bristle a little when I heard about this on FOX. It just seemed very out of character for this area to have a cop do something like they are describing. In fact, the last time I was stopped in Jones County (for running a stop sign off the I-59 exit ramp) the officer not only didn't give me a ticket but requested that I pray for him at church that day! I'm serious! I was running late for church and told him so, but I was courteous and honest.

I actually consider myself a libertarian but only of the Biblical sort. You know there is a difference between true liberty and anarchy. Some people here don't seem to know the difference or that there is a difference.

I thought these guys were from Canada and was wondering why they wouldn't be worrying about taking issue there. Libertarian there is a buzz word for homosexual and I was suspicious that it might be here too.

Ranger, I doubt that fame-chasing is the case. If it's the case then they're taking a really round-about way of getting there because they've got a resume as long as your arm of activism in the liberty movement.

I don't think that being a documentarian gives you special rights. I think that everyone has the right to record the police. In this country, that right is supposedly protected by the 1st Amendment. I also believe that people have an absolute right to arm themselves as is supposedly recognized in the 2nd Amendment, however even in a state like Mississippi there are more gun controls than I would like.

I know Pete is from Virginia. Not sure about Jason and Adam.

Since you're interested, I'm from Alabama.

Actually, Mississippi comes in 22nd on personal freedom but 30th on economic freedom according to the recent Mercatus Center report on Freedom in the 50 States.

Yes Dan I know the difference. I don't think being a documentarian gives you any special rights when you are stopped by the police. I don't like either very much. You know what's funny is that Mississippi is actually one of the most free states in the country in gun laws, worker rights, education and anything you can think of. But these bozo's seem to want to paint us as the opposite. I think all this is grandstanding for the sake of publicity sothey can sell a stupid documentary and make money and be famous. where are these guys from anyhow?

Ranger, They're going through a process to have the video restored using technical data recovery methods.

I'm pretty sure that you can see the difference in the government using surveillance to invade a person's privacy and a group of documentarians or the press videoing the procedures of government agents.

I find it odd that the people who are always whining about being videotaped by "big brother" find it useful when it suits their purposes. As to who erased the video I can't help but wonder if maybe these three guys erased it themselves because it was self incriminating.

Being from Mississippi I just want to say "Yall come back now ya hear"!!!
