I can lower the delay with Icecast. What you hear is about 10 seconds away from realtime.

This is common, theres nothing wrong w/puting it online.

In fact last week I was hanging out with some of my friends at dunkin donuts, here on Long Island, NY and there was some kind of dispute in the parking lot across the street and the cops showed up. My friend whipped out his iphone and pulled a feed from some one who was syndicated the precints radio… Mind you the dept feed is actually encoded which makes the scanner extra costly…but some one obviously is willing to put it up…

We heard that the dispute was some one accusing some one else of stealing $100 from his car.

But the Popo's are getting hip to the scanners and are using cell phones for off log chats…

You can use a streamripper with winamp and record the feeds You can then post the good parts of those recordings online for other people to hear.

even if you're a statist you should be able to figure out why listening in on police band is a good idea. Consider it one of those idiotic "civic duties" that you love to push on others.

I suggest AnAmazedReader that you listen in for a while and do your civic duty to report on anything worthwhile. Of course, I'm always told. . .that we have an 'open and honest government' 'by and for the people'

This is a great thing for the Keeniacs. Now people who aren't even involved can listen in!

It's illegal to carry a scanner in your vehicle unless 'authorized' here in the People's Republic of Michigan.

Streaming a scanner feed is a new one on me. Hats off to you, Ian, this one requires some brass
