I have a message for people who say to you "Don't break the law. Work within the system instead."

For those of you who say this, do a Google search on the following:

Please do this search. I don't want anyone to think that I made this up.

I am one of the "Melbourne Six", one of the "persons of interest" indentified by the Brevard Sheriffs office. All I ever did was hold a protest sign on a sidewalk across from city hall. There were no bombs or any type of violence, or any indication that there might be violence. Absolutely no indication I might be involved in terrorism either. I was born in the US, so were both parents and all fgur grandparents. The last time I left the country was when I was 12 or so, when I went to Canada for a few hours when visiting Niagara Falls. No criminal record, either.

Why don't you beg a little more, BOK, and add just a little more desparation, I don't think Dale's getting the message that he's irrelevant =p.

Oh, and a big welcome to all free staters, and anyone else willing to work to help restore liberty!

I'm afraid you statist busybodies will have to go somewhere else if you want to keep threatening your neighbors in order to run their lives and finances. Better yet, stick around and learn to live peacefully with them, and respect their choices!

Brevard spy files (Did you look it up? Please do if you haven't.) was a major turning point for me. Previously, I thought that the only way to overturn unjust laws (and I can't think of any law more unjust than putting pot smokers in jail) was to work totally legally, totally within the system. Collect signatures, hold signs on street corners, campaign and vote for candidates who share your views, but never break the law. I was once the secretary of the Florida Cannabis Action Network (FL-CAN), and we specifically told people DO NOT BRING CONTRABAND TO OUR RALLIES! (They did anyway.)

I now see things differently. All those things I have listed have value, but they will attract the attention of law enforcement, who will use any means, both fair and unfair, both legal and illegal, to stop you. They are thugs, plain and simple. They are not there to protect and serve, they are there to shut you down any way they can. Morallity and logic have no meaning to them. If you don't believe me (and even if you do), DO THE GOOGLE SEARCH! Please look this up and see for yourself. I really want people to know about this.

Working within the system works just fine if what you want to accomplish is to expand the system's power. Want to reduce the system's power? You will need a good heavy dose of civil disobedience.

You can look for other examples of unjust laws being overturned. Prohibition, woman suffrage, slavery, the draft, and many other things come to mind. I can't think of one that was overturned without civil disobedience.

Our founding fathers did not work within England's system either. To do what they had to do, they broke the law, and what they did was a crime punishable by death.

I just had to chuckle. Dale with his accent sounds like Gov. Mel Thomson, (name is link to Wikipedia article) as "statist" as one could be.
