It's extortion, plain and simple, and that's clear with any honest thought. The problem is, people don't believe there's a better way for us to interact and form societies, as humans -- so they don't want to consider the moral questions honestly (kind of like how you don't want to know or think about what's in your sausage). But, there is a better way -- it's just not what we're used to, or what we've been taught. It used to be most people thought slavery was essential to society -- that without slavery, society would fall apart. That was common wisdom -- and the abolitionists were considered extremists. Yet, we found that we can organize society in a better, more moral way -- and we're all better off for it. I am convinced that human society does not require evil. Evil is evil, and it is never necessary. The more we reduce and eliminate evil behavior from society, the better off we all will be. We can do better. Well said.
