NH Court Security Gets Pay Increase

Perhaps this means the quality of people attracted to such employment will improve.  You know, so there aren’t guys like this intentionally hurting people who only want to exercise their so-called “freedom of the press” by filming in a public building.

Court security officers were getting $65 for a full day and $35 for a half day.  According to the new law, they’re now going to be paid $80 for a full day and $40 for a half day.

We can only hope this pay increase marks a new era of respect for the rights of individuals.

No government is ever too broke to increase pay to aggressive and violent bureaucrats.

I’m sure that every time a bank guard needs a raise the shareholders need to approve a new bylaw for a minor contractual change. (Though I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that this is actually the case, due to heavy federal presence in banking and to Union laws)

The current courts, and their political super-structure, would crumble under free-market pressures, to those courts that could hire the best and/or cheapest internal security depending on what would better draw clients.

And all the inefficiency stems from thinking that “we all need cops”, and “we all need courts”. Well, we all need food and shoes and clothes, too – but those markets seem to do fine with their relative freedom. Why can’t, if “we all need cops/courts/laws/defense”, any person try their hand at running their own agency? They would be successful only if they do better than the current options, and any injustice performed by the agency would be enforced against it by the others.

Or we can continue to live in a world where, if you need a raise, you can ask for a change in “the law”.
