Keene Nightcap Adds Fire-Breathing!
A new face showed up at tonight’s Nightcap. Dorian told her story of the Keene police, who she previously had been a fan of, harassing her for doing spray painting (artwork on paper, not graffiti on buildings). They threatened her apparently and demanded she beg for permission from the city government people and pay some absurd amount of money for their piece of paper. Instead, she told them she was joining the “free staters” and showed up with a fire breathing performance tonight:

Looks like a blast!
And to think that I coulda’ been there last night, but no, I just had to call it an early night and go home and get some sleep. Glad we got the video. Gladder we got the audio. What does young Ms. Dorian have to say for herself? Well, after the announcer gives a plug for “101.9 K-ROCK radio -btw, how much is the invoice “FREEKEENE” is sending them for the “free” publicity???…-we hear Dorian say, “he loves me”…Yes, Dorian, we do love you. That’s why we do what we do. That we are imperfect human beings explains why we don’t do it better. we get concerned when we hear you say, “we need more lighter fluid”…the “FLARE-UP” at the camera only evidences the validity of our concern. We are even more ALARMED to hear you say, “it’s my first time”, & “I’ve never done this”, and, “I’m still learning”…It is far from OUR “first time”, Ms.Dorian. We’re glad, at least, to see your fire extinguisher handy. Have fun. Stay safe. Yes, LIVE FREE, the “and DIE” part comes all too soon for us all…………..~keenenative~…………………………..
Instead, she told them she was joining the “free staters” and showed up with a fire breathing performance tonight:
Dorian,
Welcome to the community of people who respect your freedom.
I feel many more people will be joining with us because they’ve been subjected to the iron grip of the violent state.
Bad for the state. Good for us.
Fire breathing is way cool. I’d like to see it. No doubt, the people working for the fictitious entity known as the “City of Keene” will want to crack down. In preparation, I’ve been doing some legal research.
Sec. 42-131. Permit required.
No person shall kindle or light or permit any other person to kindle or light an outside fire within the city limits, except for the purpose of normal operations of gas and charcoal grills, approved incinerators/fireplaces, or campfires in approved campgrounds, without first obtaining a written permit from the chief of the fire department. Permits will be mandatory at all times during the year even during snow covered conditions.
(Code 1970, § 2204.1)
This is the Keene city ordinance… which is more restrictive than the state law. Violation of this ordinance is a violation whereas violation of the state law is a misdemeanor.
State law:
227-L:17 Permits; Damages; Penalties. –
I. It shall be unlawful for any person to kindle or cause to be kindled a fire upon the land of another without first obtaining permission from the landowner or the landowner’s agent, or upon public land without the written permission from the official caretaker, excepting that upon a public recreational area where fireplaces and a supervisor are provided, presence of an official supervisor or caretaker upon such land shall constitute permission.
VII. Any person violating any provision of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and any person who causes or kindles a fire by any means, willfully or recklessly, which shall endanger a woodland shall be guilty of a misdemeanor if a natural person, or guilty of a felony if any other person.
I don’t think the state would be able to prosecute someone for a 227-L violation… because there is no actual “kindling” of a fire.
I think if they were going to crack down they would do it under the city ordinance because the ordinance only requires a fire to be lit… and unless you’re lighting a grille, incinerator, or campfire, you need a permit.
The ordinance seems to require that anyone lighting a cigarette, cigar, or pipe have a permit…. in the same manner someone doing a fire breathing trick would need one.
Thoughts?
Here’s my thought:
GET A LIFE BRAD!
Here’s my thought:
GET A LIFE BRAD!
I have a life. A life where I am not aggressing against peaceful people. This is far more than you can claim.
I’d rather help educate and protect my liberty activist friends then get paid to hurt people who haven’t harmed someone else.
Perhaps, someday, you’ll understand. It took me a long time.
Thank you for reading and commenting here…. even if it is to rag on me

When does unemployment run out or did you get the re-up?

No one will censor your insulting speech here… but I will remind you of this:
“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” Mahatma Gandhi
If a police officer quit his job in the 1800′s because he refused to enforce slavery laws there you’d be BraveCop. Insulting/mocking/joking about him for speaking out against the status quo.

GET A LIFE BRAD!
Most of us are here because we have lives, which are increasingly being impinged upon by the folks calling themselves government — especially the federal ones.
You say “get a life”, but I wonder if you consider the lives of the people you arrest for victimless crimes, or those on whom you enforce overbearing tyrannical regulations, or the lives of their families. To many politicians, bureaucrats, and police, it’s all a game with a paycheck at the end of the day.
It’s not a game for the victims. To the victims, it’s anything but. A part of this woman’s life was her artwork — and now she can’t do it without kissing some bureacrat’s behind, and giving them cash.
Increasingly, one can’t do much of anything without begging some bureacrat for permission.
I would love to be living my life freely — it is your organization which continually imposes itself on my life and property in greater and greater ways. There is no significant aspect of life today that is not controlled, manipulated, taxed, and usually badly distorted by arrogant politicians.
Freedom is essential. Unfortunately, it seems we used to value it far more in this country in the past, than we do now.
Great response Paul.
BraveCop, you indeed are brave for being willing to discuss these things with us. I understand you presently disagree with most (or maybe all) of what we say.
Your participation here is important. Please feel free to always offer your opinion.
Brave Cop (who just may be bragging with a name like that) doesn’t get it. Brad does have a life, and if it’s in New Hampshire it’s sure to be a pretty good one, regardless of what others chime in about it.
The nightcaps are looking more fun than ever. Now *that* is a life. People peacefully gathering and sharing the incredible company of each other. That is a life. Fun delivered it seems, in truckloads. That is a life. Living free while others instead foolishly choose to wallow in their misery and slavery. That is a life. That should clear it up for you, Mr. Cop.
I don’t care to speculate as to just what Mr. Cop feels “a life” or even what fun is. It may be just too sad, cruel, or lacking in fun and frivolity to contemplate.
Live Free!
I don’t get it. You need a permit to do art? Can someone give some more details?
I have a life.
I sit on my ass drinking beer, eating chips and watching the Red Sox. At times I waddle to a bar to do the same. I will never, ever think for myself or question anything. Occasionally I stare at Fox News for hours on end complaining about a world I wouldn’t dare attempt to change.
God bless America!
Yeah, more info would be good.
I think they may have laws about buying spray paint, who knows.
I just started snooping for the ordinance that they seemingly used to interfere with the freedom of someone to peacefully make art.
This is what I think they might be using…….. claiming she is conducting an “exhibition” ?
Sec. 46-621. Description.
Outdoor periodic events shall include athletic exhibitions, public dances, circuses, carnivals, live performances, exhibitions, promotional activities and any similar periodic activity open and available to the public which is conducted outdoors. For the purposes of this article, “promotional activities” shall not include promotional sales activities which are held at the normal place of business of the sponsor unless they are activities of a type that involve exhibitions, public dances, circuses, carnivals, live performances and other activities of a similar type which do not relate directly to the sale of the product of the business.
Sec. 46-641. Required.
Any person who wishes to have an outdoor event as described in section 46-621 shall obtain a license from the city clerk.
I have to wonder if it is legal to do anything in public, other than walking down the sidewalk… never stopping (you’d obstruct the sidewalk).
I wish I’d been born somewhere else. Or that ALL you people would go somewhere else. I’m sick of ALL you people’s bullshit. I’m MORE sick of the cynthiageorgina&freddieparsells-type bullshit, but still……..
The last honest man! Thanks for the insight!
