Full Video of Committee Hearing on Open Container

Pretty much just the bureaucrats came out to speak against repealing the ordinance. The committee, while cracking jokes about being tipsy, declared the hearing “informational”, and apparently that means they will do nothing at this time. Thanks to Nick Ryder for the video:

Thanks for posting the video. The term "raw video" is not accurate, as this is edited with titles and for audio quality.

The term "full video" is more accurate, as it is not edited for length, and shows the entire discussion.

quick observation :i believe mr parcells is from like newyork or new jersey (he has a slight accent)
also how old was he in pre 74?
anyway.just a thought ……. anyway….I guess my point is ……. im wondering if he really does remember all that

Did anyone really expect these bureaucrats to take seriously any changes to their policies of behavior micro-management?

They are not going to relinquish their power, because there is no incentive to do so. And they know that it will only encourage more changes. Civil dis will solve this problem, begging will not.

Chase, when are you coming to do some CD?

I didn't realize there is no public intoxication law in NH for people over 21. I looked for it in the RSAs, and only found the section concerning minors. Thanks to the Kaptain for pointing that out. Maybe that would be a better (still bad though) ordinance to pass than the open container ordinance.

Everyone be sure to get intoxicated before their next city council meeting!

I'll be there with you pretty soon, Ian. I was at Liberty Forum this year, and although the event itself was a bit boring I didn't ever want to leave, because of the awesome folks. So yea I'm coming soon and bringing lots of good ideas and good vibes- and good bud.

    Larry,

They still have what they call "protective custody", where they lock you up for the night with no charges.

  • theKINGofKEENE

Don't be a dweeb, Ian. NOBODY EVER says "Protective Custody"…It's always "PC". &I remember when KPD actually let drunks sleep it off in a jail cell, & just let 'em go next morning. Only in Winter or when raining, though…unless you really knew the cop on duty, then they would let you "sleep it off" in the cells in the downtown PD…(BTW, the "Open Container" law is ALL ABOUT behaviour mod for college kids.

I'm surprised that no one brought up the problem with actually enforcing the ordinance without violating privacy rights. I guess if they take Ian and Sam to court it'll come out there or with a lawsuit against the city and they'll reevaluate the ordinance after that.

This is a good video though ……..maybe some of the dumb laws they stick you with (like they did me) like the bicycle reg law could be gotton rid of this way

Classic debate of authoritarian "People are too stupid/lazy/selfish/irresponsible to be trusted to make good decisions" versus libertarian "I am a person endowed with rights".

Convenient audio drop on Chris' address. Good editing. As was requested, full name and address was requested.

    Obvious audio fade.

Editing show you have something to hide.

Nervous Heika, I don't understand your logic, that YOU are not associated with any organization.

You're obviously a freekeener, or you wouldn't be here. You lie like a hound.

Sam Miller, (alias Dodson) just gave "Keene, New Hampshire 04031" as an address, not a street address.

Something to hide. Chris's street was conveniently audio fade out, and then the others after were as well, to make it look as if it was a mic problem.

Are you lot that desperate for attention?

Sam, not everyone has a cell phone with a cam, (as was pointed out to you),neither of mine do.

A drunk tossing a bottle through a window of a store at 1:30 AM is probably not going to be witnessed, much less recorded on a cell phone, considering the hour.

My cell phones have at best sporadic signals, to make a phone call.

I'll get new cam phones, on your dollars, if that important to you.

It's not a failure of Police, (which you vehemently dislike), it's funding to the police to have more patrol officers in the city when it's convenient to you.

Alcohol sales stop at 1 AM (off licence) 12:30 (on licence).

Not "1200 or 1 am or whatever it is".

    You"re, not a NH native.

    "Pre-gained 3 beers"? What's "pregaining"?

We could have you put your $5,000 camera in Central Square, Just leave it there for convenience to the residents to use in case someone needs to record the drunks.

From what you speak of, YOU were there in the 1970's.

I strongly doubt it. I, on the other hand, was.

Savannah Ga is a CITY not a town.

Heika, the Heckler, aside from you being disrespectful, (as you had a jolly good laugh), consider this….. while you were speaking NOONE snickered while you were speaking.

Again, you are just , as you termed it " TAUNTING".

I do have to agree that the "CHILDEN" card Councilor Manwaring pulled is too much!!

This problem results in , a panic over the children, never mind the adults/elderly mentality.

My Mom's house went afire on 5 Aug, and she can't get any help to relocate.

She's stuck with my sister (Cruella), and Mom's 72. And all you lot are worrying about if you can have a booze container open?????

  • max allison

heika, i almost thought you were a decent person standing up for what you believed in until you laughed at that man for saying what he did about his children.

i also thought it was completely innappropriate for the councilwoman to interupt the young man – but she wasn't there trying to make a difference like you were.

who are you to laugh at someone for expressing their thoughts in the way that he was? did he laugh at you while you were speaking? no. have some respect. the lack of immaturity at your outburst completely proves to me that you would not be an individual that i would trust with an open container of alchol in a public area.
