Prediction About Weare PD

I’ve been giving those ridiculous arrests by Weare Police Department some thought and I’ve come to conclude something: they are wishing, and hoping, and praying that House Bill 145 is passed by the Senate and signed into law by Governor John Lynch.

If that bill becomes law, which it should, Weare PD gets to drop the derisory charges that are still pending (for the third time) and claim that they had no choice as the law has changed.  How convenient for Weare PD.

Free Staters Given Another Reason to Leave California

According to a local CA newspaper (click for full article), two free-staters who have yet to move to NH have been arrested for wearing masks and having an anti-tax sign:

Benjamin and Russell Bartholomew were arrested Wednesday afternoon after hanging a 20-foot-long sign with an anti-tax message from an overpass on Highway 70 south of Marysville…

Charges are expected to include affixing a sign to state property and wearing masks to escape recognition while committing a public offense. The brothers are scheduled to appear May 24 in Yuba County Superior Court. Benjamin, 26, said Thursday that the sign — large black letters on pieces of white poster board roped together — was up only about five minutes before patrol cars arrived at the Erle Road overpass.

Here’s the video from the side of the road where Ben and Russell do a great job refusing to cooperate with the FIVE police aggressors, and point out the violence in the system:

Drop into Free Concord to see what Garret Ean has to say about the Weare PD protest this week, including some great pics!

Free Keene Fest Is Just Around The Corner…

It’s that time again…Free Keene Fest will be held Sunday, May 8, from 12-4pm on Railroad Square.  The rock band, Federal Crime, will be playing live during the festival. If they sound familiar to you, it’s probably because they have played at other Free Keene Fests and even played behind the E.F. Lane Hotel during the Music Festival last fall!

There will be lots of unique things to do, see, and buy. A few will even be handing out informational material on various liberty-oriented topics!  Poker and other games will be set up, and food/ beverages will be for sale. Looking for some pro-liberty apparel to sport? Come on down! There will be a couple of vendors, including one of my favorite local artists, Dave Dixon, selling his famous t-shirts and sweatshirts. Did I mention there will be a clothing drop-off if you are looking to give to the community? Clothing will be collected at the Fr33 Aid booth to be donated to a local charity and anyone in need.

Free Keene Fest has been a fun time for many for almost five years, being held biannually. Many people come from afar to hang out with other liberty-minded individuals. There are no permits or vendor’s fees paid to the city of Keene for this festival of freedom. However, responsibility for your property/trash/etc is expected!

I sincerely hope to see this Spring’s Free Keene Festival a smashing success!

Person Suggesting Law Enforcement Connection Hints at Murder

While reading the excellent article by the Union Leader that Ian Freeman blogged about earlier, I couldn’t help but notice the following comment:

“It would be a real tragedy if one of these people were shot in the face while reaching for a recording device that looks much like a weapon.

- The Blue Boot, manchester”

There is absolutley no conclusive evidence that this commenter was in fact a member of law enforcement. For the sake of argument, please assume that he is.

What Mr. Boot is suggesting is that members of the public utilizing cameras to record public servants performing public functions (as allowed by the 1st Amendment all law enforcement officers swore an oath to uphold) be shot under the fabricated guise of a justifiable shooting.

Great coverage of yesterday’s protest at Weare PD, thanks to Biker Bill Alleman, who is one of Weare PD’s victims and is currently facing a felony wiretapping charge. In this excellent video he covers the protest, the food, the police-ordered pizza, rude firefighters, and the flowering of the front door:

Dozens Protest at Weare PD – Union Leader Reports

After three arrests of liberty-loving activists simply for recording video, dozens of activists showed up at Weare PD to try to hold these jokers accountable and we were of course, ignored – mostly. They actually closed the public part of their office for the day prior to our arrival! The cops even refused to come and respond to a call in their own parking lot. Later, they actually ordered pizza for us, had it delivered in my name, (I was the one who had called the department on my cell phone and requested they come out) and had the pizza company write on the boxes: “PORKY PIG SPECIAL” and “Compliments of your Friends @ WEARE PD”

Some people who appeared to be firemen flipped us the bird. Video to come. Pot was smoked and fire burned. One activist was having a cookout over an open flame right out in front of the police station. The PD was left with bushels of flowers adorning their front door (click for video). It was an interesting day. Here’s the Union Leader’s Greg Kwasnik reporting on the event:

More than 30 people gathered in front of the Weare police station Wednesday to protest the department, which has in the last 13 months arrested and charged three people with felony wiretapping for recording police activity.

Waving “Don’t Tread on Me” flags and signs reading “We Will Record,” protesters argued that the department overstepped its authority by bringing charges against people who recorded officers performing public duties.

“I don’t think they like being confronted by informed citizens that know their rights. I think that many of them are corrupt and they have a bad reputation,” said Bill Domenico, of Manchester. “If it’s on the job, it’s on the record.” Read more

I just read an article about the City of Dayton, Ohio being told by the United States Department of Justice that they will have to lower their testing standards because not enough black people are able to pass their police entrance exam.

Why on Earth should it matter what color someone’s skin is?

Keene Rep. Kris Roberts: New Hampshirites would benefit from a non-partisan Common Sense Caucus

April 26, 2011 by · 1 Comment

In response to an article in the Concord Monitor about disgruntled Republicans planning a “coup” against house speaker Bill O’Brien, Kris Roberts argues:

A coup would be a really bad idea because it would allow the speaker and his leadership team to avoid taking the hit for the major cuts; whoever became the new speaker and whoever assumed leadership positions would be held responsible for the final budget.

The most effective way to deal with the current problem, the best way to look out for the interest of the people of New Hampshire would be the formation of a third caucus, what I would call for a better term the “Common Sense Caucus” made up of men and women who would be willing to put New Hampshire first, party second. Men and women who can take the time and decide just what are our core values, what programs that we believe define us as a state, programs that we must find funding for; Programs that we would be willing to stand up and fight for.

Fifty or sixty men and women may not have the power to conduct a successful coup but they could have the power to limit the power of the king; requiring him to lead by a set of rules. If one doesn’t believe so I recommend that they take out their history book and read about a little place named Runnymede and that piece of paper called the Magna Carta. After all you don’t have to kill the king to get him to look after the welfare of all the citizens of New Hampshire.
