FKTV’s Michele Seven Reports from Occupy Wall St.

MicheleFree Keene TV‘s Michele Seven reports in from Occupy Wall St. and asks why you aren’t there. I support what Michele is doing, but I have enough on my plate here in Keene. The real question, is where are all the supposed New York liberty people? Are they there? If not, why not? I’ll be at Occupy Keene tomorrow. Here’s her blog from facebook:

Well I am sitting in a coffee shop in Brooklyn with a freestate friend who has generously put me up while I am here in NY for the OWS outreach that I have committed to doing since first hearing about this occupation. On our way over here, we noticed that his Subaru had been broken into and the passenger window shattered. Nothing was stolen- whoever broke into his car was looking for a gun, in my opinion….the stereo was not taken, nor was the gourmet chocolate- the only two things of value. This act of destruction had to have been done after 5 am in broad daylight as that is when I walked by the car on my way back to the apartment. I can understand why one would want a gun here after spending a few days and walking back from the subway in the early morning…It is scary.

There were two guys who offered to sell me weed who were my introduction to the 24-hour services provided in the neighborhood. They gave me a chuckle as I thought about how much I appreciated the ease by which one could procure some medicinal remedy. But the guy I came across next was not so nice- I was certain that something bad was sure to happen and he was not shy about telling me what it was he wanted. It wasn’t a cop who came to my aid but rather a bent-over black woman who looked like she was into hoodoo; whatever she was into or whoever she was, the guy sneered at me and walked away. I was fortunate. There is a reason that one of the 3 rules in my house that my children grew up with is “stick together-there is safety in numbers”. There is also a reason that there wasn’t a cop around to help…they are all at Wall Street.

As many cops as there are around the park, there are that many guarding the privileged class, protecting them from possibly being spoken to by someone beneath them. You see, now that people are not allowed to bring things into the park, occupiers are using the surrounding area to provide food for anyone who wants it, clothes for anyone who wants it, handwarmers for anyone who wants them, medic attention for anyone who wants it. Notice I say “want” and not need; it is all voluntary and nobody is imposing him/herself on anyone else…even if it is “for their own good”. I had to stop myself from insisting that Stan Wood, who had stayed at my home the night before I gave him a ride down this way and who was arrested as part of the raid, come back to the apartment with me for a good night’s rest, some food and a hot shower: he said that he wanted to remain with the occupiers. There is something that we can all learn from the dedication and loyalty of this group.

Tomorrow at 2 pm, there is a drum circle that is going to play in front of Michael Bloomberg’s townhouse for 24 hours. I will be there by myself, although I will be surrounded by people who will lock arms with me and defend me in the event that I should be threatened in any way. And I will be sharing with them the same thing that I have shared since I first came down here over 6 weeks ago: liberty, with voluntaryism being the basis for human interaction and opting out the only moral option when dissent is present.

I do not understand why the whole of the FSP is not here quite frankly. I know that people have jobs, families, etc. But I have a job, a family, etc. We continually tell people that if they love liberty, the cold of NH should not be an issue; that if they love liberty, they shouldn’t be afraid or unwilling to leave their communities; that if they love liberty, they should be willing to be inconvenienced. So where are you? Why aren’t you here freestaters? This is a target rich environment where there were 40K people in one place who were crying out for liberty two nights ago. When I suggested they not process if arrested to clog the system; that voluntaryism is the moral solution to statist tyranny and that agorism and mutual aid are the practical manifestations of non-coercive interaction, they were ecstatic and drank it up as though I was offering the fountain of youth.

I am not going to say how disappointed I am because I believe the reason you are not here is that you just don’t understand how great it is. Gee, where have we heard THAT before? As for me, I will continue to tell my kids that I cannot be there for them right now; I will eat swill instead of my regular strict diet that I believe is going to be what cures me from illness; I will sleep on the couch of my generous friend who offered up his place to anyone who wanted to come during the two weeks his roommate is gone; I will put myself in harms way where my fears of a big, scary punk-ass threatening me are assuaged by a little old lady but my fears of police who tell me that if I don’t shut up or they will arrest me cannot be except for by mass civil disobedience and organized defiance; and I will postpone my own legal battles of which I have more than 10 presently.

There were those who said they’d be interested in helping but could only do so from NH. Great! Money to help me offset the cost, books to replace the thousands stolen by the cops, emails or messages of encouragement that tell me you are looking out, and help with getting my sons who are returning tomorrow to where they need to be since they cannot drive would be great. On second thought, forget all that and get your fucking ass down here and put your money where your mouth is.
