Yesterday while handing out some information at a local high school, the principal mistakenly thinks that free speech doesn’t apply in public spaces. Despite repeatedly making threats to use force (call the police), a student-council representative tells us he doesn’t appreciate how disrespectful the FreeKeene activists are toward the principal.

Are we forcing anyone to take the information? Will the police use force against us at the whim of a government worker’s say-so? You bet. I won’t speak for others, but I was prepared to be arrested if my only “crime” was handing out literature in a public space. Why? This is why:

Matt, David wouldn't know common sense if it bit him on his ample posterior. If he had any, he would know that telling someone to go away, just because he doesn't like what they have to say, infringes on THEIR 1st amendment rights…..

I own my home and a large percentage of taxes im forced to pay goes to the PUBLIC school. I am greatful for information that expands my childs mind and allows them to think freely. The best teachers in my past were the ones that 'stepped outside of the box' and made me think for myself. I dont want my child to be a lemur and follow the others off the cliff. I beleive being a parent of a student at MRHS should allow me the right to access the school grounds and it should not be limited to students and faculty only as stated by Mason . I have been to the school many times and have exercised my OPINION. I beleive i have earned that right by PAYING for that public space . As far as videotaping students.. i just video taped my daughters basketball game … will i be arrested because i caught some other peoples kids in my video.? This principle needs to step up and not have a kid do his talking for him . Hope he gets an A for stepping up regardless of which side he stands for .. funny how the school cop hid behind glass door .. Tough to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person . Thanks for giving a practical lesson at school and i beleive it will help more than it hurts by providing discussion and awareness of alternative perspectives . I dont think you were disrespectful AT ALL of the principle and if he were any kind of a leader he would have been prepaired and calmly handled the situation with dignaty instead of idle threats .

Mason, don't waste your time. These idiots do everything in their power to try to censor their opposition, I'll tell you more about what they did to me in 7 days, I intend to make a nice post about it, but I can't at the moment due to the policies of where I work.

If you thought they were disrespectful to your principal, I would recommend you watch some of their other videos (in particularly the ones with Derrick in them – he's a prick). The one where they visit the political figures are rather gross.

Thank you for posting your point of view above. You mention parents have the right to give or not give their consent regarding cameras. Hmmm…do they have the right to give or not give their money ortheir homes if they choose not to fund a school? Why not?

You missed the last century Bob. We live in a land of taxes. People sold their gun powder, oil lamps and ink bottles a loooooong time ago. You can kick, scream, whine, bitch and pretend to be pseudo freethinking teacher to Mason, but it isn't going to change. And no, parents do not have a right to choose not to fund a school – I think you already know that, so why ask him a loaded question. You must be just itching for him to answer so you can give him the old one two. And why should he explain to you "why not"? He is a student….you're the adult. You already know the answer. Feel pretty good trying to outfox a student?

If I take something of yours absent your consent we agree it is theft right? Does the meaning of theft change if you and a bunch of people take something of mine absent my consent?

As far as outfoxing a kid, Mason seems capable of understanding liberty concepts. Whether he chooses to embrace them or not is up to him. You seem concerned he might figure out that all is not as presented by those who seek to control others…what is wrong with him making up his own mind?

In "my" world those who choose to seek to combine resources with their friends would be free to do so, those who decide not to partake would not be forced to do so. I cannot embrace what you correctly identify as the existing situation anymore than I could have embraced enslaving another person based on race or cremating them based on their religion. Your rationalization skirts things and seems reliant on "that's just the way it is" proclamations and that the meanings of words somehow change when government enters the equation.

…and for the record I like my oil lamp.

Correct Bob. The only problem is, your taxes are not being taken by individuals for some personal gain, like a car thief or burglar. Don't go off on a tangent either…you know what I mean. Schools have a function – and in this land of "theft" people agree to have those functions met…the consent is inherent in your being here. If you do not consent to "theft" – there are plenty of other places to choose from in this world that….oh wait….there isn't….my bad. One thing is for certain, a merry band of Shire Choir singers isn't going to do SQUAT to reverse what has become a machine that is simply unstoppable. We live in a land of faster, better……too many people like interstates and McDonalds – and we really need the gas to get there, the roads to drive our cars on, and water for the ice cubes for the soda.

I don't know this young man, but it would appear as though he has. He attempted a dialogue with people who are more interested in taping their entire lives than anything else. So the message he is likely gleaning is….that "liberty minded people" are rude, obnoxious and not interested at all in people who feel any different than they are/do. I actually would love to see Ian have a sit down chat/debate. One void of interruptions, cackling and mockery. Ian is bright – there is no doubt – and I feel if he put his strengths towards actual dialogue – he might actually get more than the $20 he has in his FK ad campaign. But what do I know….I'm just a "troll".

Great. Isn't it nice we as a society have moved on from enslaving people based on race. Luckily, people are still able to freely decide what their burial options are.

i called mr butterfield ..got a machine…..no call back yet….also tried his secratary who to me seemed mildly contentious and hadn't seen thhe flyers …i told her shewas welcome to get one next time ,that the flyer people were nice polite….anyway she couldn't answer my queries
