Fox News has now aired the Cynthia Chase story. Jump to 1:10 to see it in this video. Like the Limbaugh and Breitbart pieces, they get the story wrong, claiming Chase was targeting conservatives, which is not what Free State Project participants are.

The clip edited down to the important part.

Yeah, but the part where all of the progressives are really mad at Mr. Gore is pretty funny.

  • NewHampshire

He did say, conservatives AND libertarians. Anyone for small government in other words. There are SOME free staters who do describe themselves as conservatives, in the small gov’t sense.

    • Joseph Nabors

Show me a self-described “conservative” who doesn’t fawn over that ultimate big-government catalyst, Ronald Reagan. Conservatism has nothing to do with being for smaller government except in the minds of those who delude themselves by defining “government” to include only the government programs that Rush Limbaugh criticizes.

Quite accurate. Reminds me of FDR campaigning on the same platform as Rand Paul.

Absolutely. In NH, it is common for liberty Republicans to describe themselves as conservative. Heck, some FSPers even do so. Certainly, the FSP welcomes conservatives, liberal, anarchists and so on. Participants need to agree with the FSP statement of intent. It doesn’t matter what they call themselves.
      “Statement of Intent
I hereby state my solemn intent to move to the state of New
Hampshire. Once there, I will exert the fullest practical effort toward
the creation of a society in which the maximum role of civil government
is the protection of life, liberty, and property.”
