Thank you to everyone who contributed to yesterdays first Free State Food Drive.
We collected over 90 items of food for the local community kitchen . That is about twice as much as I was hoping for! You can see some pictures here

I will be dropping the food off on Monday, April 6th, after the Fully Informed Jury Association outreach.

I would like to set a goal of 150+ cans of food for the next Free State Food Drive to be held on April 26th.
Please help me make this a reality.

Chris M.

When asked to describe a good anarchist, Karl Hess said, “Good neighbor, good lover, good friend.” If Free Staters could regularly display those qualities to the inhabitants of our chosen home, it would go a long way to dispel the image of wild-eyed bomb-throwing conspirators that some probably have.

With that in mind, I’d like to suggest making the first Monday of each month a special Good Neighbor Day. In addition to the FIJA pamphleteering at the courthouse, there are a variety of possible activities, from cruising Main Street with Robin Hood and her Merry Meter-Feeding Men, to volunteering at local charities. And if everyone participating wore a clearly marked Free State Project T-shirt, baseball cap, badge, button, lapel pin, hey, tattoos if you’re so inclined, it could make for quite a publicity coup.

To start things off, I’ll be collecting canned goods at the last Social Sunday of the month, and will drop them off at the Community Kitchen on the following month’s first Monday. And if you can’t make it to Vendetta, I’ll gladly come pick up a load if you just call me to schedule.

Yesterday marked the beginning of what I hope becomes a monthly reoccurring event: Keene FIJA Outreach.

In the morning, four area activist and myself, gathered in front of the Cheshire County Court house in Keene to hand out Fully Informed Jury fliers to people entering the court house. The reception seemed quite positive in general. We managed to hand out a total of 51 fliers. Hopefully a majority of them got into the hands of potential jurors. We did manage to get the attention of two Sherifs that seemed annoyed at what we were doing. See the video here from Nick.

The intent of handing out the fliers was not to give prospective jurors “a way out of jury duty”. Instead, I would like to have all people be aware of the rights that they have should they be chosen to be a juror. How many people do you know realize that they can also judge the law?

Coincidentally, yesterday was the anniversary of the John Peter Zenger trial. One of the first precedents set on jury nullification.

If you would like to know more information about the Fully Informed Jury Association, please visit their web site at www.FIJA.org

Chris
