You may have read that Meg McLain is selling off her body. No, not for that. She’s selling a 2″x2″ tattoo. To help out I’m collecting donations to buy either a Free Keene, Free Talk Live, Freedomain Radio, or Center for a Stateless Society logo tattooed on Meg.

Donations can be made via ChipIn. If no one organization has the winning bid, the bids will be pooled, and whichever organizations ChipIn was the largest will be the logo used in the tattoo. If that doesn’t win a tattoo, all funds raised will be sent to their respective organizations.

After finally showing up at this week’s city council meeting to protest liberty activists, locals who oppose FK’s “methods” have formed a facebook group and planned a protest for Monday August 23rd at 5pm at Central Square.

Exactly what methods they oppose are not made clear. FK supports all peaceful methods of achieving a voluntary society including civil disobedience and noncooperation, media creation, outreach, and political action. Do they oppose all of these? Discussions are occurring on their facebook group and also the Free Keene Forum.

I’d like to thank opposition group founder Annie Callaway for encouraging her participants to join the Free Keene Forum. More conversation between us is a good thing. The FK Forum is a tolerant place where we only prohibit violence and racism. We shall see if their facebook group is as tolerant as our forum. The last facebook group that was formed to oppose FK kicked out anyone they could identify as being associated with Free Keene. However, that group was formed by someone else, not Annie. I welcome the discussion.

2. A bureaucrat claims to do something as “The City of Keene”

3. Everyone stands up

4. The City Council votes for Violence

5. A vote is unanimous

6. A council member says the phrase “master plan.”

7. They plan to  do something “for the children.”

9. Raise your glasses (drinking not needed) if someone suggests rolling back the size, scope or enforcement power of the government IE supports more liberty/freedom

Anyone who wishes to come out in support of this event is invited, drinking or not,  with or without cameras.

We believe in helping people…  mostly, by helping people to understand how a society can exist without the initiation of force.   Helping people is not always limited to ideas, writing, activism, and politics though.

A participant in the Free Keene forum has mentioned that the Summer Chill ‘10 Blood Drive will taking place in Keene at the Best Western Hotel on 08/02/10 from 11:00AM to 7:00PM.  I respectfully request that all Free Keene readers (whether advocates of what we advocate or not) join us in going to help people who need help to survive.  Let’s give some blood.

Anyone who is sixteen years old can donate blood with written parental permission here in the beautiful State of New Hampshire.  Seventeen years old and beyond can do so without parental permission.  The law (isn’t there one for everything?) is here.

Perhaps some of you who think we Free Keene writers/activists/supporters are crazy can come meet us and get to know us better.  I wasn’t always a supporter of this particular flavor of movement which advocates freedom…  but I am now for the simple fact that the people behind it are some of the nicest people I’ve met in my life.

Perhaps you too would come to that conclusion…  come meet some of us AND help us help others in need at the same time.

Times change and technology advances, and I now have a very long list of proposed features that people would like to see added to Porcupine 411. Features like live video streaming, text messaging, GPS location of callers in distress and more sit on the back burner waiting to be realized, because what I don’t have is time. I have to spend much of my time working on projects unrelated to liberty in order to make ends meet in this economy, and that has taken away from the amount of time I can put into improving Porcupine 411.
