FK’s Ian Appears with Susan Burton on “Reentry Radio” to Discuss the Plea Deal
I was grateful to have the opportunity tonight to appear as a guest with A New Way of Life‘s Susan Burton on “Reentry Radio” and discuss with her and co-host Ed Garrett the idea of not taking plea deals. Susan is the lady who was featured in the excellent New York Times piece, “Go to Trial – Crash the Justice System“.
After I saw the article I reached out to share with her that what she wanted to see happen was already happening here in New Hampshire – people refusing to take the plea deal and loading the system up with cases. I linked her to our downloadable, printable trifold, “Don’t Take the Plea Deal“, which exists in both a NH and national version.
A couple of days later, I was contacted by Ed Garrett, who is also on her show, and invited to come talk about the flier and what we are doing up here. It was a detailed conversation about the risks and potential rewards of not taking the plea deal, and we covered a lot of ground in about an hour, including talking briefly about Jury Nullification, the Free State Project, and more.

Mayor Ed Foster Regains Mayoral Position In Quartzsite, AZ

The latest from the tiny desert town that was the setting for one of my major activist projects of last summer. It was a pleasure to work with Jade Jones, Michael Roth, Richard Abbey, Dana Stadler, Will Ponce, Ed Foster, and more. If I hadn’t moved to Keene, Quartzsite would have been my second choice; there are some amazing activists there! Now, we just need to get them to move here to Keene!
According to Jennifer “Jade” Jones, publisher of The Desert Freedom Press:
Quartzsite voters turned out in record numbers yesterday to send a message. And that message was “NO” on Proposition 1(444 votes to 149), meaning 75% 0f voters wanted an elected not an appointed mayor. The mayor they chose was Ed Foster.
At odds with the rest of the council before he even took office in 2010, Foster had lost a recall election to Fire Captain Jose Lizarraga in August by a narrow margin. That recall was spearheaded by then Councilman Jerry Lukkasson and his wife Michelle. Lizarraga refused to run again for his expiring mayors seat and Lukkasson resigned from the council for a chance to wield the gavel. Now, the voters of Quartzsite have put Foster back in as the town CEO, and by a respectable margin. Read more

This morning I had the pleasure of appearing on WKBK’s “Talkback” with Cynthia Georgina and Kris Roberts. We talked about school-related issues and took calls for fifteen minutes. Talkback airs each Saturday morning from 9a-12p on 1290 AM and 104.1 FM. The phones are usually open at 357-1290.

WKBK’s Dan Mitchell Says 90% are Against BEARCAT

WKBK Drops Hatemonger Talk Show Host Mark Levin
Local talk radio listeners have probably noticed that hatemongering neocon Mark Levin is no longer on the air on WKBK. Program Director Dan Mitchell explained that Levin has been dumped off of all of Saga Communications’ talk stations nationwide. (Update – Saga’s WGAN told me they still have Levin. So, that was inaccurate.) Unfortunately, WKBK did not opt to replace him with Keene’s own “Free Talk Live“. Thankfully, Clear Channel’s WSPD in Toledo, OH did just that.
To give you some idea of who this Levin character is, I submit the following: In a stunning example of poor customer service, Levin attacks WSPD Program Director Brian Wilson in an email he angrily sent upon discovering his show was canceled by Wilson.
