From The Onion:

WASHINGTON—Striking down the judicial precedent that established the legal supremacy of right over wrong more than two centuries ago, the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday overturned Right v. Wrong.

The landmark reversal—a bitterly contested 5-4 decision that has been widely praised by murderers, rapists, bigots, usurers, and pro-wrong advocates nationwide—nullifies all previously lawful forms of right and makes it very difficult for Americans to make ethical decisions or be generally decent human beings without facing criminal charges.

“It is the opinion of this court that the Constitution was crafted in such a manner as to uphold and encourage practices that are not right and, ideally, are very wrong,” Justice Antonin Scalia wrote for the majority, which also included Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy, and John Roberts. “Despite the compelling case for goodness, truth, and justice made by our predecessors in the case of Right v. Wrong, we firmly believe that malice, dishonesty, and injustice were the framers’ original intent.”

“The ruling today rights an age-old wrong in which right has consistently, and unconstitutionally, prevailed,” Justice Alito wrote in a concurring opinion, adding that the decision between right and wrong did not present a difficult choice for him. “It is clear the earlier court erred when issuing the Right decision.”

The ruling in Right v. Wrong was handed down in 1790 by the Supreme Court’s six original members, all of whom sided with the plaintiff, prompting Chief Justice John Jay to write, “It is the emphatic province and duty of this highest judicial tribunal to rule in favor of Right, as the argument in support of Right is the right one, and the argument in support of Wrong is the wrong one.”

Since that time, the verdict has been cited in most legal rulings at the state and federal level, and has been upheld by the Supreme Court numerous times, most notably in a 1974 opinion overturning a Six Circuit Court of Appeals decision that would have re-segregated the nation’s schools, abolished the minimum wage, legalized evil, and allowed law enforcement officials to conduct searches and seizures without a warrant.

This term, the high court agreed to hear the appeal of an Arizona state judge’s ruling for the defendant in the case of Good v. Bad, a decision that had once more called into question the basic tenets of Right v. Wrong.

“If you look at the current makeup of the court, the verdict is hardly surprising,” said law professor Erwin Chemerinsky, adding that given recent decisions to permit unlimited corporate spending in electoral politics, crack down on civil liberties, and allow the execution of Troy Davis to proceed, he believed the justices had been angling to do away with Right for some time. “It’s long been clear Roberts and Alito were in the camp favoring wrong, and Scalia’s passionate criticism of the Right decision almost certainly swayed Justice Kennedy.”

“As for Justice Thomas, he was practically asleep when the attorneys representing Good gave their oral arguments,” Chemerinsky added. “In terms of his job, that was definitely the wrong thing to do, so he made it pretty clear which side he was on.”

Many constitutional scholars have argued the ruling sets a dangerous precedent whereby violent criminals could conceivably appeal their convictions and, citing the federal judiciary’s rejection of Right, be acquitted of their crimes.

According to reports, the impact of the verdict has already been felt, with a Massachusetts man murdering three people this morning in front of several Boston police officers who by law could do nothing but watch. In addition, a woman who volunteered at a Toledo, OH soup kitchen has been arrested, sentenced to six months in jail, and fined $25,000.

“This ruling is so broad that even those who show an intent to do right can be prosecuted,” said Martha Minow, dean of Harvard Law School. “Make no mistake, the court is sending a message to pro-right supporters that fairness and equality are no longer the laws of the land. And the decision has no chance of being overturned in the immediate future, because the bench will be dominated by pro-wrong advocates for years to come.”

Justice Stephen Breyer chose to read his dissenting opinion aloud before the court, a rare gesture apparently aimed at expressing the full measure of his disgust with the verdict.

“The court needs to overturn this ruling immediately because, simply put, it’s the right thing to do,” said the associate justice, who, along with his colleagues joining him in the minority, was then arrested by Capitol Police, placed into custody, and is currently awaiting trial. – Supreme Court Overturns Right v. Wrong. The Onion Issue 48-03, Jan. 18, 2012

We laugh only because the joke rings so true.

The corrupt system of corporatism (fascism) that we have on our hands in America today is making it quite difficult for me, as an American, to do the right thing. Tomorrow morning, I face the possibility of being tossed in a cage for peacefully exercising my so-called Constitutional right to proper redress of grievance, standing up for the rights of myself and others, and doing the right thing.

Perhaps fairness and equality are no longer the laws of the land, but they are still the laws of the universe and of nature. I am quite certain that the scales of justice will tip even in the end. I’m not hurting anyone and I’m doing the right thing, thus my conscience is clear.

“Don’t Strip Our Rights”, held at the Manchester airport on Friday, Jan. 20th, was a huge success in large part due to the many talented liberty media representatives from Free Keene, Cop Block, and Ladies in Keene who covered the event, Adam of Marijuana Muscle who is including it in a video project he is working on which focuses on the activism here in Keene, Free Keene blogger Jason Rapsher who so expediently released this video the day after the event, and to my video editor/graphics designer Beau Davis for creating the awesome flier and video you see featured in this post; his work speaks for itself.

Additionally, I must thank the individuals at the airport who were acting as agents of the state for doing the right thing that day. They regarded me with the same level of respect in which I regarded them and did not interfere with my peaceful demonstration by initiating any force such as arrest and/or caging against me.

I plan to return to the Manchester airport on Groundhog Day, Thursday, Feb. 2 to do it again, this time with a guest activist; to be announced.

The main goals of this event are to raise awareness of the violations on natural rights inherent in standard TSA procedures, to educate others on the ideas of liberty, and to promote a truly peaceful society.

Many individuals around the world have learned that only by interacting peacefully can we achieve a more harmonious, prosperous, healthy, fair and tolerant society, that our lives on this planet can be far better. People universally oppose acts of aggression, theft, and fraud when committed by individuals. We accept the principle that the initiation of physical force against others is illegitimate, immoral, and may rightly be defended against. For the most part, we also insist that organizations of individuals, such as corporations, also abide by this natural tenet.

When it comes to state aggression, however, especially that wrought by democratic governments, the perspective for many can change. Individuals too often excuse the state when it harms innocent individuals. This may be because they feel powerless to effect change or uninformed, preferring to defer to those more knowledgeable. They may possess cultivated feelings of nationalism and exceptionalism; expectations of benevolence and altruism in state officials; fears of attack, fostered by interventionist propaganda and complicit mainstream media; yearnings for conformity; or just a willingness to harm, burden or restrict others, in the expectation of benefit to ends and causes they themselves consider to be good ones. Thus, when our governments act as aggressors rather than protectors of human rights, many individuals remain silent.

So begins the the forward to Why Peace, an over 600-page compilation of pro-peace essays edited by Marc Guttman, a book he he says:

is about our aspirations to our own progression, to where peaceful and voluntary societal systems and associations replace the machinery of aggression and coercion. Only by interacting peacefully can we achieve a more harmonious, prosperous, healthy, fair and tolerant society. This book is an exploration of aggression, and of the evolutionary (and revolutionary) process to peace.

Guttman contacted me and Ademo last year to solicit write-ups for the book. Ademo choose to focus elsewhere but I made some time and my short essay, From Statism to Voluntaryism, was included in the book. The essay is essentially a more in-depth version of ‘A Was For America: My Journey to Voluntaryism, and gives an overview of experiences I found paradigm-shifting, which today cause me to advocate a message of complete liberty.

Topics touched-on in Why Peace include war, anarchy, terrorism, North Korea, economics, Afghanistan, inflation, Palestine, history, Peru, and globalism.

Contributors (78 people, from 34 countries, on five continents) include Steve Horwitz (both smart and awesome, here’s him on “How Capitalism Improves our Love Life“), Chuck Pena (one of my old “bosses” when interning at the Cato Institute in foreign policy and defense), Anthony Gregory (one of the best and most principled communicators around), Karen Kwiatkowski (who, after a stint in the Air Force, advocates staunchly against an empire), Steve Kubby (cannabis patient and advocate), Lew Rockwell (founder and chair of the Mises Institute), and Walter Block (who coined the phrase “road socialist” for those who continue to support today’s artificial monopoly around the provision of roads).

I’ll end this post with my conclusion to my essay in Why Peace:

At the end of the day, today’s State, that we allow to obstruct and burden innocent individuals (who have done no harm to others) and advance the interests of some other individuals (those best able to curry government’s favor) at a cost to the rest of us, is just a bad idea, and ideas can be unlearned. I’ve found the surest way to facilitate this is to establish personal connections with individuals, and encourage them to think for themselves, taking their views to their logical conclusions and demystifying the language surrounding actions done by State agents (taxes are theft, arresting peaceful individuals is kidnapping, etc.). As I tell those who are still on the fence, if we don’t act now, just imagine how hard it will be for the next generation.

Or, as Voluntaryist author and thinker Carl Watner says, “If one takes care of the means, the end will take care of itself.” To realize the freer more peaceful society, we must live it and not be afraid of those who thrive on fear and scare tactics. The liberty-oriented community is growing. More are engaged in unschooling, agorism and civil disobedience. I’m optimistic about the future.

Kelly Voluntaryist a Keene NH activist, gives the TSA a little T&A in the name of liberty at the Manchester Airport in protest of the TSA. The TSA has been stripping people of their rights, clothes, dignity etc. (body scanners etc.) So basically, Kelly stripped down in an effort to restore the inherent natural rights, which have been stripped away by an overly evasive government acting on its own volition. Kelly handed information out and talked to people for approximately 40 minutes, 1/4 of that time was outside in 15 ° weather. Seven activists attended in support of Kelly. I think we all had cameras, so there’s going to be more video to come out with much better quality.

There’s a near minute long introduction, which is kind of a summary of the events if 6 is too long. I do enjoy the lady that tells Kelly that old lady’s can carry bombs. I’m amused easily for sure and I have that line repeated several times.
Recently the TSA has been particularly F-ing with granny. Lenore Zimmerman, Ruth Sherman, Linda Kalish are some mainstream stories of molestation cases courtesy of the TSA. Unfortunately gov. currently has a monopoly on travel. What few rights we have left get completely diminished anytime we jump in a vehicle. The TSA takes injustice and the violation of people’s rights to the skies.
These are obviously efforts that aren’t going to be resolved in the relatively short term. Attempting to wake people who have been asleep for decades doesn’t happen overnight. Nonetheless, this is great activism by Kelly. It was well received by the public with no strong opposition. Most of the responses to the event have been very positive. Although the video is condensed from 40 minutes into 5, I believe it accurately depicts the positive responses in relation to the negative.

At Sunday morning’s presidential debate held at the Capitol Center for the Arts, one arrest was made during a foiled “mic check” attempt by Occupy New Hampshire activists. Matthew Richards of Manchester was arrested for trespassing after attempting to hold open a door at the theater to allow protesters into the debate. He was tackled by security and placed under arrest by Concord police. Dave Ridley captured the scene following the arrest, as Matthew is brought out of the building. This is his second protest related trespassing arrest, as he was also taken into custody for a short period following the eviction of the Occupy NH encampment in Veterans Park.

From CopBlock.org:

Ademo Freeman is sitting in a cage at Valley Street Jail in Manchester, NH.

His “crime”? Highlighting the double-standards claimed by some who wear “Manchester Police Department” badges on their costumes*. After a six-month ordeal, Ademo was found guilty of two “class a misdemeanors” for resisting (going limp) and one “class b misdemeanor” (for using children’s chalk on a public building).

For such egregious actions Ademo was “sentenced” Monday morning at Manchester district court. In true government efficiency, the kangaroo his proceeding began 30-minutes late.

“Prosecutor” Gregory Muller started by reciting Ademo’s past run-ins with individuals who claim the “legitimate” right to use force in an arbitrary political boundary.Included in that list-of-actions-that-had-no-victims was Ademo’s 2007 felony (for having a plant some strangers deemed “illicit”). Muller proclaimed that the previously levied sentences had had no deterrent or punitive impact.

As such, for his two “class a offenses,” Muller advocated for Ademo be caged for 12-months, with 10-months stayed (concurrent sentence). For his “class b offense” Muller claimed “the state” was owed 375-FRNs.

William H. Lyons (who wore a black robe) asked Ademo to comment on what he had heard. Per the monetary claim, he stated that he’d be willing to do community service and even pay “a reasonable amount.” Per the cage time threatened Ademo pointed-out the big discrepancy that existed between the action and penalty, and that the 2 1/2 days he’d already spent in a cage (arrested on Sat. June 4th and arraigned on Mon. June 6th) were more than adequate.

But most important, Ademo underscored the fact that there was no victim for his actions. He concluded, “Valley Street wasn’t built for people who use chalk.”

Lyons t0ld Ademo that he had “an incorrect memory” as Ademo had stated the total clean-up cost for his chalking (a firehose used to spray-off the chalk) was125-FRNs when in fact the cost was 375-FRNs due to the fire department’s three-hour minimum**.

Lyons told Ademo that because he used non-toxic children’s chalk on public property he owed “the state” 200-FRNs plus a 48-FRN “penalty assessment.” And, because he went limp when he was unjustly arrested he is to spend 12-months in a cage, with 10-months stayed (as a concurrent sentence), so long as he had “good behavior” for two years (which includes not violating a Manchester “city ordinance” against graffiti).

Ademo communicated that he didn’t intent to fund “the state.” In lieu of paying the 248-FRN ransom he indicated his preference to sit the time. He was taken directly from sentencing to Valley St where he’ll be through the week. Re: the threat to be caged for 12-months (with all but two months stayed), Ademo noted his plan to appeal.

Ademo had arrived at Manchester district court with friends who love and support him. He left in handcuffs led by strangers to a cage. For what?! Ademo is guilty only of drawing attention to the blatant rights-violations committed by some wearing “Manchester PD” badges, which has only been compounded by those involved who have not spoken up for what is right.

In five days Ademo will be free(r) then he can dig into his appeal.

Before he went into the proceeding he outlined how YOU can help:

make the move

get involved with Cop Block – as a contributor, by submitting a story, or anything else. This is a decentralized project – you don’t need our permission to use the Cop Block label to advance the simple but powerful idea that badges don’t grant extra rights!

*to be specific, Jonathan Duchesne, Matthew Jajuga, Michael Buckley, and Ernie Goodno, who act as if they have extra authority based on their attire based on their dress alone
**again, these are all public officials, the building is public property, Ademo was using non-toxic children’s chalk, and there was no victim

For those that have been following CopBlock.org, you might remember that myself and eight others were arrested while protesting the Manchester (NH) police – after four of its officers were cleared of wrong doing in the Strange Brew incident. It took about 6 months, considerably shorter than ‘justice’ for others, and to no surprise the judge (this was a bench trial) ruled in favor of the state.

Refusing arguments that I was engaged in Free Speech and Peaceful Assembly – as protected by that worthless paper known as the Constitution (seriously, when is the state going to recycle that shit) – stating Free Speech does not allow me to damage property. Yet, at my trial I wasn’t allowed to ask witnesses if they thought, or had proof, of me damaging anything. In fact, I wasn’t allowed to say the word damage at all because that is a legal conclusion for the court – who? yeah the ‘court’- to decide.

Above is my over arching video on the matter. Stay tuned for an update, as I’m still unsure of what I’ll do (appeal, take my sentence or whatever), after my Jan 9th sentencing hearing.

This is a follow up to the Live Free or Dance Party on September 9th 2011, which led to the arrests of Ryan Maddox, Roz, Nick and Derrick J. Freeman. While several events transpired that evening, this video’s focus will be on Derrick and his arresting/pepper spraying officer, Copcha (Michael). After handcuffed Derrick cooperates by walking to the police car. Rather than assisting Derrick, like he had for the 150 meter walk to the cruiser, Copcha asks Derrick “are you going to get in the car.” Derrick verbally refuses, he states “I feel as though I’m being kidnapped”. He warns Derrick with pepper spray if he doesn’t comply, Derrick repeats his reasoning. Copcha proceeds to pepper spray Derrick, then assists him in the cruiser (This part of the video is included).
On December 21st Derrick speaks with Copcha & asks him several questions in reference to the incident, including an apology request… Copcha Declines. Also a few days after the Sept. 9th occurrence, Jason Talley asks Copcha several questions about the incident.
I’ll give a briefing on the entire incident to those who are unfamiliar.
Police came to the Square around 10:15-10:30, due to a “so called” complaint, in conjunction with a violation of using an electrical outlet in a public park (why do they have it if no one is able to use it?) Anyways, the complaint was bogus, based on the several witnesses who were there. The music could not be heard outside the Gazebo, let alone across the street & the music had not even completed a song. At one point before things escalated, Copcha stated, “just shut it down and were out of here.” It was shut down, unplugged & the cops remained on the scene. Just a side note, if the music had been blasting to the point where people living nearby could hear, we would have understandably complied.
The cops wanted someone to claim the equipment and check someone’s ID. One of the Juggalo’s (Nick) said it was his. The cops knew it wasn’t, because they know the kid & they had a run in with him earlier in the night (as heard on the original video). Why does Nick claiming the property lead to his arrest? I have no idea, but to speculate, the kid got into trouble earlier in the night & they wanted a reason to arrest this kid. After Nick was arrested & hauled off, the cops proceed to seize the equipment. The attempt to prevent the property from being stolen by the Keene PD, is what leads to the three arrests (holding onto the property while the cops pried it away). I didn’t want the police to take the equipment either, it’s an expensive piece of equipment, it’s something several of us use for Karaoke on a weekly basis among many other uses. What gives them the right (they knew it wasn’t Nicks)? Another side note… the Live free or Dance Party occurred the previous week with no problems & several following Friday’s after this incident with no issues.
This leads to the pepper spray incident, which is unbelievably perplexing why a cop would use pepper spray on someone who demonstrated no signs of physical violence, & someone who assisted the cops to the cruiser? Even if someone was handcuffed, resisted getting into the car, and extremely violent, pepper spray would be excessive. These people go through an academy where they learn to subdue individuals, to resort to such measures is inexcusable. Even to those out there who disagree with Derrick & the actions of those involved. You have to agree, that it’s unethical for an officer to get revenge/justice, because someone is annoying or gives them a hard time. This is what they get paid to do.
Aside from that, I’m not happy with how I behaved that night. Not that I, or anyone else there should have been arrested, but I was cussing & screaming like a jack-ass. For that, I’m sorry to the Keene police who were on scene, along with those (including myself) who see the importance of having positive interactions with the PD, the community & people in general. Of course I have issues with the institution, how it’s funded & the lack of accountability that’s inevitable in a forced monopoly etc… but I try to give them the identical respect, which I give to any stranger I come in contact with in my daily endeavors. I’ve had discussion with some of the local cops & generally they’re good people. Of course I have issues once again with the notion that they’re upholding unethical laws & caging peaceful people, but I think when they’re not following orders, they’re potentially good people.
In reference to Copcha, I think he knows he made a bad judgment that night and I’d be willing to bet he feels guilty and is regretful for what happened. Aside from that incident, he’s been a very reasonable person anytime I’ve had interactions with him, or witnessed his interactions with others.

Boom! Two Arrests Before Annual Christmas Party!

Keene, NH - So I walk into Judge Arnold’s courtroom, and that monster Ian Freeman is sitting there for a hearing about Thomas Ball*. His Free-Stater loons were all sitting behind him so pathetic, but wait! No cameras?! “Hell yeah,” I thought. I put on my toughest game-face and pointed with my mightiest finger and walked with my most German march and told them if they don’t remove their hats or stand for the judge, they’ll be arrested. They think they’re hardcore, sitting there looking stoned and motionless. John** walks in, the free-stoners remained seated, and I asked him if I could arrest them. He said yeah so you know the fun is about to begin!

I went over to go put cuffs on these people but then realized I couldn’t possibly arrest all of them at once, as strong and agile as I am. I called for backup and my buddy came and helped me block these guys into a corner. Some of the wimps threw up their hands and said they were leaving under duress and made stupid comments about how WE should be respectful! Can you believe it? I mean these people seriously have the gall to come in and disrespect my friend John like that and think nothing’s gonna happen? Not on my watch! I’m what the taxpayers want. They want me there to make sure this baloney like wearing hats indoors doesn’t fly. Happy to help, taxpayers.

It was pretty awesome arresting these two. The one guy and girl thought they were sooooo cool ’cause they didn’t have to stand up when John walked in the room. Like they were just going to relax and just make themselves at home sitting there ignoring everyONE and everyTHING in the courtroom. What’re you doing there if you’re not going to follow the rules? You’re gonna get thrown out. Duh.

The guy called TalleyTV weighed about 180 lbs and was built like a brick outhouse. The wimpy baby got down on the floor and I dragged him across the floor through the courthouse to a paddywagon where I waved goodbye. The girl called Kelly Voluntaryist had no problem walking herself. I don’t know how such a pretty girl learned to be so disobedient. Both of them are part of some website called Fr33 Agents. Sounds like a bunch of dissidents who need me to put ‘em in their place.

Well, crazy day, but it looks like I won my bet with the other bailiffs***. One day I’ll have enough saved up for that penis enlargement surgery, and I won’t need this job to get my kicks. Until then, I’ll see you in court!

In this video Derrick and I (Rapsher) discuss and partake in Robin Hooding. One of our motivating factors is, like most people in the community, we’ve been compromised into paying various fees associated with driving. Robin Hooding is one way we believe we can neutralize our karma for paying a criminal agency. So, we’re not personally getting our money back, but we are preventing others in the community from having their money stolen from them by the city with parking tickets. We encourage you to do this in your city, or just come to Keene NH and join in the fun here.
