Derrick J. Asks Pepper Spraying Cop for an Apology
This is a follow up to the Live Free or Dance Party on September 9th 2011, which led to the arrests of Ryan Maddox, Roz, Nick and Derrick J. Freeman. While several events transpired that evening, this video’s focus will be on Derrick and his arresting/pepper spraying officer, Copcha (Michael). After handcuffed Derrick cooperates by walking to the police car. Rather than assisting Derrick, like he had for the 150 meter walk to the cruiser, Copcha asks Derrick “are you going to get in the car.” Derrick verbally refuses, he states “I feel as though I’m being kidnapped”. He warns Derrick with pepper spray if he doesn’t comply, Derrick repeats his reasoning. Copcha proceeds to pepper spray Derrick, then assists him in the cruiser (This part of the video is included).
On December 21st Derrick speaks with Copcha & asks him several questions in reference to the incident, including an apology request… Copcha Declines. Also a few days after the Sept. 9th occurrence, Jason Talley asks Copcha several questions about the incident.

CopBlocking the Sheriff’s Department
Last week I blogged about camera bans and lack of accountability from those working inside Cheshire Co Superior. Included in that post was a video of several journalists who sought comment from a continually aggressive bailiff, B. Tebo, and others employed by the court. The media was present up to the last day of business before the holiday, and will again after the holiday.
The last day, December 23rd, Derrick and Ian were waiting for bailiffs and judges to come to work, in order to ask them a few questions. The weather was a bit harsh, compared to the past days, so the duo decided to stay in the car. That’s when Caleb came into work – he’s a sheriff – and threatened to tow the car for being parked in the judges spot. Even though no complaint had been filed, no judge was being kept from parking there or the fact that three other stalls were still open for judges. Ademo’s Arraignment on Wiretapping Charges

Yesterday I was arraigned on three counts of felony wiretapping – click here to read about Pete’s and my year long fight on MA wiretapping charges. If convicted I face anywhere from 11.5 to 21 years in prison and up to $12,000 in fines. I say IF because the only way I’ll be convicted is if the state (the system itself) protects it’s own. The three people claiming that I wire tapped them are public officials, whom I recorded while acting in their “public” capacities, but we’ll get more into that as we approach trial. Read more
Former Cop to Test University Gun Rules
Two individuals are planning to carry firearms onto a Plymouth State University this Friday – December 9th, 2011 – which may be illegal. One of those individuals is Brad Jardis, a former NH police officer, and the other is Tommy, former military. Brad and I met a few years ago, he even blogged at CopBlock for a short time (come back Brad!), so I was excited to sit down with him and get the scoop on this story.
As you’ll see (or seen) in the video above, Brad states that universities have been telling students, guest and parents that it’s against the Universities rules for people to carry firearms on university property. Yet, New Hampshire law states that no political sub party can make such a regulations in regards to certain things, including guns (read more at FreeKeene.com)
So this Friday Brad and Tommy will be walking around Plymouth State University handing out educational material with rifles strapped to their backs. Brad hopes they’ll educate people about their right to bear arms and no one will be arrested. Though he’s not only willing to go to jail over this, Brad has vowed to take the case as far as he can go if arrested Friday. CopBlock.org cameras – myself included – will be on hand.

Superior Court Bailiff Rejects Judge’s Ruling on Filming Public Officials
There’s been a back and forth going on in the Keene court system. The state pushes activists (with aggression) and the activists push back (peacefully). The activists were doing rather well until the courts BANNED cameras from the buildings/courtrooms. Since then several acts of violence haven’t made YouTube but I thought that changed when the 1st District Court of Appeals ruled on Gilk v. Commonwealth of MA.
That ruling states that ALL PUBLIC OFFICIALS can be filmed while in the course of their duties, in public space. So I decided to head down to Superior Court in Keene, NH to notify the bailiff’s there of the ruling. My goal was to get them to understand that taking people’s cameras at the gate is now illegal, no matter what the judge’s ruling on the wall says (the 1st district court of appeals overrides it).
This is how it went…
After the video ended I went back into the building gave the ruling to a sheriff and said, “the next time I come here you’ll have a choice to make and I will sue you if you arrest me. The choice is yours.” I’m not sure when I’ll be back in Keene but when I am, I’ll be stopping by the courthouse with several cameras.
