On April 20th at 4:20 pm activists from Keene, Manchester and the rest of the state converged on the State House in Concord New Hampshire. State Representatives Mark Warden and Mike Sylvia were also in attendance. There were also dozens of people there that are not Free Staters. Considering this was also Easter Sunday, there was a good turn out. The purpose of the event was to act in civil disobedience to the law regarding marijuana. Even though marijuana is legal in Colorado and Washington, it is not yet legal in New Hampshire and is still regarded as contraband. It is time for prohibition to end so that peaceful people can be left alone. Hopefully in the near future people like the organizer of the event Rich Paul will not see the inside of a cage again for simply selling or possessing a plant.
State representative and liberty lover Tim O’Flaherty of Manchester has put forth a bill that repeals the act of adultery as a crime, which according to the state, hasn’t been enforced in a decade. It’s amazing that any police resources were spent on such a ridiculous investigation even a decade ago!
The bill was overwhelmingly passed by the NH house in a 268-29 vote. The senate votes today and according to WCVB, governor Maggie Hassan has pledged to sign the bill if it reaches her desk.
I’ll update this story as the senate vote is revealed.
UPDATE (6:44p) – this has passed the NH senate in a voice vote. Presuming Hassan signs it as she’s pledged to, the repeal goes into effect on Jan 1st, 2015.
It *is* possible to change the system for more freedom in NH. Please come here and join us as part of the Free State Project.
As has occurred annually since 2010, the 4/20 celebration is organized to proceed as usual on the state house lawn in Concord, New Hampshire. The disobedience rally in the supreme political venue provided by the state house originally occurred at the revered time on Guy Fawkes Day of 2009, and became a yearly occurrence when a larger group held a celebration in April of 2010. Free Concord has covered the event in 2011, 2012, and 2013, and is expected to collect content from the ritual again. Check out the facebook event page for details on the upcoming festivities.

What does state rep Janice Wall have to hide and why is she so unfriendly? Dave Ridley of the Ridley Report returns to the state house to attempt to hold members of the judicial committee accountable on what, if anything, they are doing about Thomas Ball’s self-immolation nearly three years ago. They mostly ignore him, but one of them is even more ridiculous and rude than the rest, Janice Wall. She attempts to hide her face with papers (which she accidentally drops), then attempts to tell on Dave to the building’s security staff. Enjoy these videos of this ridiculous person. What does she have to hide? I sure hope I recognize her next time I’m in the state house, because I’ll be sure to grab my camera and ambush interview her as well. In fact, any activists living in the Madbury area should also try to interview her about why she’s so unfriendly to independent media. She should be on video more often! Here are Ridley’s two videos where he confronts her multiple times:
