Someone at the NH State Police did me a big favor and sent out a press release about my arrest. Â As a result, WMUR has published a quick blurb and tweeted and is working on a larger story, a Union Leader reporter has called for an interview (UPDATE: Here’s the UL report.), and the Concord Patch has already scooped the mainstream news with some good coverage!
Thanks for the free press, NH State Police! Â You’ve managed to make yourselves look really petty and this also seems to be highly political. Â Or, do you treat everyone like this over paperwork errors?
Here’s the release, which wrongfully misinforms readers that I had obtained multiple identifications from the DMV. Â At no point did I have more than one ID from New Hampshire:
On April 11, 2014 at approximately 3:21 p.m. members from the New Hampshire State Police, Troop G arrested Ian B Freeman, age 33, of Keene, NH. FREEMAN is a radio show host and a minister for the Shire Free Church.
Members of Troop G were notified that FREEMAN had obtained multiple identifications from the New Hampshire Department of Motor Vehicles using different names. After an investigation, FREEMAN was arrested by Detective Sergeant Andrew Player for Unsworn Falsification and Prohibitions.
FREEMAN was taken into custody at his residence in Keene. He was released on $1,ooo Personnel Recognizance Bail pending his arraignment in the 8th Circuit, Keene District Court on May 14, 2014 at 8:30 a.m.
The New Hampshire State Police was assisted by members from Troop C and the Deparmtent of Motor Vehicles.
