This week I start the process of a jury trial for my arrest last July. The wonderful people at Civil Disobedience Evolution Fund have posted my first hand account of the events of that day, and even started a facebook event for the trial.
If the first wave of liberty-lovers doing civil disobedience were people like Russell and Kat Kanning and Lauren Canario, with six heroic arrests under his belt, Evan Pierce may be the most prolific disobedient/noncooperative of the “second wave”. (New waves are necessary as each person can only take so many charges before life gets far more difficult, due to multiple convictions.) Evan’s actions are always very inspiring, as you will surely see. Evan moved to New Hampshire a few years ago from Austin, Texas and immediately jumped into the world of civil disobedience and noncooperation. This video covers his recent arrest at Grafton superior court for wearing a paper hat as well a prior arrest in Keene for smoking cannabis during Pumpkin Fest. Evan is one of the bravest activists in New Hampshire. If you love freedom, whether you are interested in civil disobedience, street theatre, media or politics, you should follow his advice in this video and move to New Hampshire! Video to come as it is released. For now, enjoy a few pics from a tremendously successful 4:20 on 4/20 rally at the Concord state house! Despite it being 40 degrees out with a good chance of rain, over 250 people gathered peacefully to consume cannabis and celebrate personal freedom in hopes that the government aggressors will stop their violence against peaceful cannabis users. The demonstrators even walked through the state house, stopping in the lobby to sing songs about freedom and then traveling upstairs to attempt to visit the man calling himself “governor”, who had either escaped out the back door or was “in a meeting”. It was an amazing day! The police, as with last year, did nothing more than watch from afar! The state blinks again!!! Listen to tonight’s Free Talk Live for more detail on some of what went down. Thanks to Rob Nair for these photos:
The crowd doesn’t fit into one picture – it was big! (more…)

Evan was carted off to Cheshire jail where he is serving a sentence I believe for not paying a fine in a cannabis arrest from the 2009 Pumpkin Fest.
Jason Talley, managing director of the Civil Disobedience Evolution Fund, reports on another arrest in the government’s war on hats – this time the heroic Evan Pierce, a.k.a. the Emperor of Free Grafton:
I’m told that Evan Pierce will be heading to Cheshire County soon, if not now. He was caged for criminal “contempt of court” today in Grafton Superior Court by Judge Bornstein during the trial of the State vs Robert Constantine. Evan was wearing a paper hat after the judge told Ademo Freeman to take his knit cap off. When Bornstein said something like “you with the hat, come up here” Ademo remained seated while Evan stood before the judge. Evan had earlier created the paper hat as an act of solidarity with Ademo who was exercising his right to keep clothes on his body.
The next time we saw him was after Bob Constantine’s trial concluded for the day at approx 3:30PM. Employees of Grafton County decided to accessorize Evan’s look with shiny silver chains around his feet and arms that connect, slowing Evan’s roll. Always looking on the bring side, Evan noticed that with a live microphone he’d be able to share some of Weeda Claus’s Chronic Christmas Carols leading a courtroom full of Shire Activists in “Hands off Weeda Claus.” (more…)
The Nashua Telegraph reports on the heroic Catherine Bleish suing Nashua PD for wrongful arrest when she was kidnapped by the police at the 420 celebration there over a year ago. She was found not guilty of the charges they hit her with at a bench trial late last year.
