AKPF #1: Wiretapus Dialectus

Straight off the press of the latest episode of AKPF #1, this persevering installment features historical footage from the Boston ATHF hoax of 2007 which resulted in a major press conference regarding hairstyles of the 1970s. The show also hosts discussions from a Chicago grassroots group responding to Obama’s Union of the State address, and concludes with a discussion on wiretapping and the tactics of videographers working behind the scenes to produce the weekly AKPF #1 program.

“City of Keene” Loses AGAIN in Court – This Time in Graham’s Trespass Case

Graham ColsonAs you may recall, the “City of Keene’s” illegal case against Free Keene blogger and NH native Graham Colson was nearly dismissed from Keene district court, but judge Burke allowed a few days for “the city” to file a motion to reconsider, which they did.

Heroic free speech attorney Jon Meyer (who is taking this case pro-bono) filed this response and Burke subsequently denied “the City’s” motion to reconsider and dismissed the case!

To recap, attorney Meyer had argued that banning Graham from Central Square for skateboarding – without first trying and convicting him of such – was illegal and in violation of due process and separation of powers. Here’s a longer article about that argument.

burkeSo, again, the people calling themselves “the City of Keene” have now lost multiple cases against local activists, at who knows what cost to the taxpayers. They lost the trespassing and smoke alarm cases against me, the Robin Hood case, and now their no-trespass orders at Central Sq. have been smacked down by judge Burke. Kudos to Burke for making the right decision again!

Copblock Radio’s Eric Freerock on Trial for “Disobeying an Officer” 2014-01-30

During a DUI checkpoint in 2013, Cop Block Radio‘s Eric Freerock was arrested for “Disobeying an Officer”, which translates to not showing his ID fast enough. It was his first arrest and this was his first trial. Unfortunately he doesn’t challenge the main claim against him, that he “refused” to show ID, which he did not, he simply returned the officer’s request with some questions, and was promptly arrested. Sadly, there is no video of their interaction, though I’ll link to other video of the checkpoint below. Here’s the full trial video from Keene district court – it’s also the first activist trial in the fancy new courthouse:

At the end, I confront a confused state trooper, “Jerome” over his threatening of me during the same DUI checkpoint when I attempted to exit a vehicle as a passenger.

NH Jury Nullification Movement Covered in Wall Street Journal

Free Keene blogger Rich Paul’s case and the movement for more awareness of jury nullification received a feature story on the Wall Street Journal site. NH is the only state in the country with a law enshrining the historic, but repressed right of jurors to vote based on their conscience rather than just the facts in a given court case. There’s still much that needs to be done, but here nullification is legal for defendants and attorneys to actually talk about in court. (Here’s a trifold with more information about jury nullification.) Here’s the story: (more…)
