The Ridley Report‘s Dave Ridley has been arrested, as reported by Dave himself in this afternoon’s call to Porc 411 from the Nashua Police station. Dave was interviewing politicians at a Nashua hotel when the hotel staff asked him to leave. He complied and began backing out of the hotel, when he was arrested by police. Charges are unclear at this point. Dave reports he is being taken to Valley St. Jail in Manchester. Thus far, no one has called Porcupine 411 with any updates, and I don’t see any on the FK forum or NHFree.com’s forum. Anyone know what’s happening?
UPDATE: Ridley being held without bail. Charges still unknown. You can call the jail to inquire about Dave at 603-627-5620. Thanks to Kelli for the update. Here’s her Porc411.
UPDATE: I called the jail and they refuse to reveal the charges. I then called NPD and spoke to Officer Dewitt, who says he will call me back with the charges. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: DeWitt did call back, which is unusual for a bureaucrat. He did however, pass the buck to the “station supervisor”, claiming that he was not authorize to release information regarding charges. He also claims he doesn’t know who the station supervisor is at this time. I called back and asked for the station supervisor and the officer answering the phones also claimed to not know who it is, but told me to call back in ten minutes. I will be calling back. NPD’s number is 603-594-3500.
UPDATE: Called back. Phone-answering-bureaucrat claims the supervisor is not in and he doesn’t know who the supervisor is. Takes my name an number, says will have supervisor call me. More updates as they come in.
UPDATE: A Sargent Rourke called me and also claimed that he could not tell me the charges, because Dave is an adult and they cannot give that information out. (This is the same excuse they would use to “protect” a minor.) He told me I can go to Nashua District Court and then find out at the arraignment. He claims court starts at 8:15am – hopefully activists in the area will be able to attend and record his hearing and get this information.
In case you didn’t believe it, here’s Lauren playing the phone message she received from a corrections officer at the jail this morning. She also tells the story of what happened:
After telling Lauren Canario she could come pick him up, then arresting her when she arrived for “trespassing”, apparently Rich Paul was not released, at least not according to the jail operator who says Rich is still in their system. No one has seen Rich outside the jail this afternoon.
I have calls in to KPD’s officer-in-charge-at-the-time Eli Rivera and the jail’s superintendent Rick Van Wickler for their comment on this matter.
Bob Constantine, AKA His Excellency The Elder Reverend Ambassador Weeda Claus, hasn’t been idle despite being held in a cage without his consent by a violent criminal gang. He’s been doing outreach by spreading the word about Law Enforcement Against Prohibition with his jailers and discussing the concept of victimless “crimes” with the other men he’s held captive with. So far he has written three letters, and this is the first:
My mom dropped me off earlier today at 8:55 am. She has a list of a few books she’ll be sending me. The Creature from Jekyll Island should keep me busy for a while.
So far things are not too bad. I think the pen I’m writing with is a “jail pen” and it’s a bit floppy… security reasons I assume. There’s a good possibility I will be out in 40 days due to “good behavior” or so I’m told.
There are some books in the ahem “library” and I’ve suggested a few, Isaac Asimov’s. Somehow I got a corner cubicle w/ window so I’m thankful for that. One of the guards gave me some paper (2 pieces.) I’m told I can buy some on Monday which should be enough to start outlining a book. One of the Jail Captains called me “The Cannabis Guy” so apparently the trial and ensuing events did not go unnoticed. “renowned” at last! (more…)
Pete Eyre took this photo of an emperor of Free Grafton surrounded by his Free Keene allies. Relations between the two Shire communities remains strong as both are each playing their role in advancing peaceful evolution.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of relations between the many governmental organizations that played their part to cage Evan.
Pete wrote:
Evan wasn’t “supposed” to be released from his cage until tmrw but Ademo went to Cheshire Co Jail and basically got van Wickler, the “superintendent” to round-down, rather than up, Evan’s 7.68 days.
Just shot an interview with Evan and will post a video about his experience soon. Jason Talley, I’m going to use some of the footage you got last week”
Perhaps van Wickler felt the heat from the Sunday’s Rally to support Emperor Evan. Those were some good looking signs. Looking forward to Pete’s video featuring Evan.
Evan, the Emperor of Free Grafton, has been in custody since last Monday when he dared to wear a paper hat in front of a man, who just so happened to be wearing a dress (makes sense right?). After that encounter armed men in costumes (aka – police) put personal information and/or finger prints into a computer, where another ‘sister’ organization (Keene District Court) to theirs claimed Evan owed $384 to them. (NOTE: No proof of contract, evidence of damage to property or a victim has never been presented to the Emperor.)
The most upsetting part of this is that Evan is being held in segregation. Which is a single cell, about 6′ x 8′, that you spend 23 hours a day in. When asked why Evan was being held in segregation Rick Van Wickler, superintendent of the Cheshire Co Jail, reportedly stated that ‘his’ policy is to hold those who refuse to pay the fine in segregation – see this FB thread.
Nevertheless, the Emperor is supposed to be released this Wednesday at 7:06 am after spending 8 days on lockdown – something that cost taxpayers approximately $1,000 – bravo guberment. To celebrate his release I’ll be taking the Emperor out to breakfast and hope you join us- details here.
If you have time to get up to the jail before Wednesday please do so, I know it’s one day before his release but it’d be great to make it fly by for Evan with a bunch of visits, plus it will get him out of his cell for more than just one hour.
Evan also wanted me to thank everyone for the support, he’s gotten several post cards from Mail To Jail. Thanks 🙂
