Power Suppliers Deregulated in NH – Now you have a choice.

I just happened to call Fairpoint to inquire about their DSL speed (an upgrade to 7mbps is now available in Keene for $4/month more) and they told me that energy suppliers in NH have been deregulated, so now you can sign up for different suppliers besides PSNH. (Your power is still delivered and billed by PSNH, it’s just the supply portion of the bill will be provided by Fairpoint Energy.) Fairpoint is offering 10% off the supply portion of your power bill for choosing them: http://www.fairpointenergy.com/

Judges Ruling: Darryl W. Perry vs City of Keene, et al.

I’ve been waiting to make this post, partly because I wanted to make sure it would be the final post about the case.
A Lady Judge, whose name I don’t remember and can’t make out, dismissed the case. It was dismissed after the Hearing on the Motion to Dismiss because the court claims I supposedly “failed to state a claim upon which relief may be granted.” The Judge did not adress the immunity claimed by the defense, nor did she mention Article 10 which states there are not to be two classes of men.

Her order can be viewed below: (more…)

US Supreme Court to Weigh the Infallibility of Drug Detector Canines

An article in the Washington Post that has been widely syndicated discusses how the collection of evidence by the use of drug detector dogs will be considered by the united states supreme court. Two cases are pending on the docket, both from Florida, which question the effectiveness as well as the constitutionality of canines for drug detection use. The article cites studies from the University of California at Davis in which 18 police canine teams were sent through a facility and tasked with finding hidden drugs. Though there were no drugs in the facility, 17 of the teams reported alerts. Barry Cooper, former police officer and producer of the Never Get Busted educational film series has discussed his own manipulation of police canines while he was working as one of the most successful narcotics interdiction detectives. Anyone who has owned a dog knows that their life revolves around serving their pack leader. There are no objective standards or testing done of the animals to demonstrate their effectiveness. In a 2005 case, former supreme court judge David Souter stated that the infallible dog “is a creation of legal fiction”.

Last year, the Florida supreme court had thrown out a case from 2006 which featured questionable probable cause for a search after a police dog sniffed and acted playfully. Judge Barbara Pariente wrote: (more…)

School Board Bureaucrats Refuse to Reveal Information about HS Principal

Wondering what’s going on with Manchester West High School’s MaryEllen McGorry? You know, the bureaucrat that testified against Ademo and supported the police officer who slamed a teen’s head against a lunchroom table? She was suspended recently pending an investigation. What has become of that?

Well, it’s a “personnel issue”, so you don’t get to know anything about it, despite being forced to pay for their monopoly on education. Dave Ridley gets the story:

Keeniacs Visit Palmer, MA – 2012 Edition

Back in 2011, Keene-based activists traveled south to Palmer, MA to support Jay Noone as his home was being taken from him by the people calling themselves the “Town of Palmer”. You can see the video of that day’s events here.

In the 2011 visit, we were able to walk about the town offices and ask the employees questions with no threats from Palmer police.

This time, however, things were different. Activists once again traveled South to help protect Jay Noone’s home from being sold at a “tax sale”. Coincidentally, we happened to encounter a tax sale at Palmer town hall back in 2011 as well. This time, no one from the public was allowed into the “very open, public tax sale”. The first stop however was the “open house”, where potential buyers were informed that the home is stolen property and that they would be included in a lawsuit by Jay if they purchased the home.

Palmer police were mostly giving us the silent treatment, especially one officer who was parked conspicuously down the street video recording us from afar on a dated, tape-based device. Finally, I was later arrested for the horrible crime of walking into town hall with a video camera and refusing to shut it off. Apparently, the Glik decision didn’t mean much to these bureaucrats. All that and more are all included in this 15 minute video of the scene:
