How Government “Represents” the People

Politicians have been experiencing increasing resistance to out of control government policies. People showing up to express their disapproval are labeled as disruptive protesters harassing constituents. The police in both Grafton and Keene disagree with that viewpoint. What’s behind Keene City Councilor Pamela Slack ’s refusal to answer questions on the record for the media?

This video sets the scene for the day:

This was my discussion with Pamela Slack who was there to hear concerns on behalf of Jeanne Shaheen:

I think the pinnacle of this post came at the end of the second video, when Meg said constituents are no longer considered as such when they are unhappy. That’s a great point, I thought.

    incredible coverage you guys.

I swear these politicians are all the same. Watching these videos reminded me of Senator John Cornyn and Representative Lloyd Doddett both from Texas this past Saturday in Austin, TX where they appeared in public and refused to communicate with their constitutes over Obamacare.

Their behavior must be from public training and speaking 101 they received on their first day in office.

Very nicely done. I especially get a kick out of watching you guys smile during the encounter.

From a tactical standpoint, the terrocrats are doing a good job of making people think that this is all some big republican conspiracy. I spoke with a lot of people this weekend from across the spectrum and most believed these protests across the country are coordinated.

I did come across one angry democrat that told me she was going to refuse to get the mandatory coverage and refuse to pay the fine for not taking it because “if it’s not good enough for them, it’s not good enough for me”.

Still it bothers me that not only do these people feel they don’t have to be accountable, they’ll likely get reelected.

Have fun in the senate nice lady.

She’s shameless. Not that she meant it, obviously, but I like the concept of the problem being your lack of “homework”, and not her reneging on her invite, & attitude towards her constituents. She said that she’d be available that day until noon, but you lowly people can’t hold her accountable.

I hope the officer who blocked the door watches this, and realizes his error. He was clearly protecting this woman from facing the people who she snubbed, despite her duties, and word, from doing the one thing they could do; ask questions, and reveal her behavior to the rest of her constituents. He assumed the questions weren’t “honest”, and followed his instincts in protecting his fellow statist. He needs to check his prejudice, and behave professionally, if he wants to believe that he isn’t a thug. As should Slack, but as I mentioned, she’s shameless.

Hmmm… weren’t some Keene activists arrested for blocking ingress/egress to a public building? I could be mistaking that for another even, but it’s a favorite tactic.

I wonder if Uncle Fester would care to comment on that? Probably not, given his statement that he “was not protecting her” from you.

  7. Puke on Mon, 10th Aug 2009 5:11 am

    What a cunt.

  8. Slim on Mon, 10th Aug 2009 6:52 am

Pam knows she is not getting any votes from the people asking questions so those “constituents” don’t matter to her.

    Run Pam run

This is how Jeanne Shaheen communicates with the people who she represents she advertises a meeting, sends her lackeys, and the lackeys will not even listen to the questions.

In the late 1700’s they took care of people like her with a tar and feather party and ran them out of town on a rail. Then a new nation was born.Hmmmmm…..

    DixieDog,

Freestaters are not violent. We just video record them and they run way like cockroaches: No tar and feathers needed.

    ThinkLiberty,

It seems you are right, especially about the “cockroach” part. I am not violent either but I think the tar and feathers sent a very strong message to others who were thinking about treading on peoples rights. I enjoy the videos, I have never seen a real tar and feathering party. I wonder which one makes a bigger impression?

  16. AnAmazedReader on Mon, 10th Aug 2009 3:17 pm

Is Puke a physical self-description, or simply an honest assessment of your intellectual worth?

By the way, nice post on another thread here; your use of the word “cunt” was as effective as it was novel.

You are indeed an avatar of Liberty. Kudos, sir. Now, back to Mommy’s basement, please.

  17. The lord on Mon, 10th Aug 2009 4:00 pm

dixiedog1, Taring and feathering a person is lethal, you hardly run after you have been through such a process.

  18. Mike on Mon, 10th Aug 2009 4:19 pm

@AnAmazedReader: While I don’t appreciate Puke’s use of “cunt,” your response is equally inane. An ad hominem argument doesn’t resolve anything. Also, technically, your first argument is a false dichotomy: you present only 2 possible meanings for his nickname “Puke,” thus making it appear they are the only choices possible.

Nice work on the video and the editing!

  20. vermontvoluntaryist on Tue, 11th Aug 2009 10:12 am

Bravo for getting this up at Infowars. As I stated in a comment there, this is what you can ALWAYS expect from government people — the IRS, Senators aides, it matters not. There is NO solution in engaging political government whatsoever. The only reasonable choice is Market Anarchy (www.tolfa.us). That said, I DO like how you harass these bureau-rats just the same! GOOOOOO FREE KEENE!!!!

Even though some people might characterize the cops in the video as bad guys, they aren’t. They did the best they could. Being public employees, they at least were more honest than the despicable Pamela Slick. Are you looking closely American citizenry at what we have here? This has been going on for years, why are people so surprised now. These publica employees, whos excellent wages and benefits are paid for by the very people, the citizenry, who they will not even take the time to answer questions for. Wow!!

It’s the same with everything. Not just health care issues. Whether it’s illegal immigration, war, high taxes, people being tazered who are in wheelchairs, etc. Folks, we had better wake up in this nation and appreciate what we have, or we will wake up to a dictatorship and be forced to appreciate what we don’t want. As you can see, public employees, a group of mainly Democratic voters, like Ms. Slack(why do they always have a name that’s appropriate to them)are the new masters over the American citizenry. All the more reason to bring back honest capitalism and shrink, shrink, the central government, that wants to be the BOSS OF US ALL.

  23. Bobby on Tue, 11th Aug 2009 5:28 pm

Mike, how clueless are you when you engage in a semantic exercise, when an issue so serious is at stake. I suppose you agree with the worthless to the core, government beurocrat Ms. Slack?(an appropriate name if ever there was one) Where’s the coffee, is the question she obviously asks the most in her working day.

  24. Bobby on Tue, 11th Aug 2009 5:33 pm

Final comment. Isn’t it time to get rid of rep. Jeanne Shaheen by now? What good are representatives that won’t represent, or even have the brains to hire people who will answer their constituents questions?? This stuff is amazing, surreal really.
