If you’ve been reading Free Keene for a while, you know Jason. He’s a prolific activist, a big supporter of civil disobedience, and a talented videographer and editor. I was excited when Free Keene was able to sponsor his videos, but I’m even more excited that he has seen fit to make the move from the woods of Grafton to the urban small town of Keene! Now, he joins FK as a blogger! Here’s his bio from the bloggers page:

Jason Talley (“talleytv”) – Jason Talley reports from the front lines of freedom at Talley.TV and is the Managing Director of the Civil Disobedience Evolution Fund. In both of these roles Jason advocate for the victims of government violence and finds common cause with those who work to replace the State’s perceived monopoly with a voluntary society which respects the principles of liberty, justice and peace.

Jason has been actively advancing the ideas of liberty for over a decade. He left Washington, DC to “search for freedom in America” as the creator and crew member of the Motorhome Diaries. In April 2010, Jason was the 806th person to move to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project. Soon after witnessing the State of New Hampshire’s ongoing war against peaceful people he invoked his right to revolution and is much happier being part of the Shire community.

The Peaceful assembly choir video was something worth watching….I wished they had recorded the practice sessions that led up to that awkward comedy gold….

But I was against all of those wars..and incursions. I have many friends who have fought and a few that have died for this country…I hate chicken hawk Neo Con Reagan worshiping cowards who love war and have never served…I'm not sure where your assumptions about me are coming from but they are incorrect..Somalia is frequently brought up, not because of the U.S military history there, but because it has been touted in Libertarian circles (i.e the mises institute) a success story..The lack of centralized government there left behind a power vacuum that was promptly filed by war lords (or private security forces) The people have lived in subjugation there ever since. I'm not smack talking a country that is dying of a famine, I am smack talking blow hard ideologues who bitch about the oppression and tyranny in Keene NH while tens of thousands of people die, basking in the freedom of refugee camps….

The point of my post wasn't necessarily that Free Keeners should leave the country, rather that the places in the world where there is NO government (what they claim to want) obviously aren't doing so well, so why would you want that?

Although I DO think it would be pretty hilarious to see you guys put your money where your mouths are and actually move somewhere where government has already been abolished–wouldn't that be an easier place to start implementing the perfect 'free society' since the obstacle of government has already been overcome, unlike in Keene?

And I'm headed to Uganda in about a month, actually, I'll see if I can make it into Somalia too and let you know how 'freedom from the oppression of government' is working out for them.

I'm sorry to see this thread go in this direction. I'm all about that "peaceful evolution." It's important enough to me that I spend a lot of time advancing these ideas into action. There's a lot of different people who offer feedback with different interests and agendas, and that's cool. I just ask that the conversation remains peaceful. Thanks.
