Here are highlights from a recent Talkback on WKBK. Liberty-minded people (and not-so-liberty-minded people) call to discuss bicycle ordinances, where of course, both city councilors are ignorant of the laws of their own system. Also discussed was size of government, spending, and government schools. A local statist calls to explain why coercive education is so wonderful.
Please join us for our weekly chat and calling sessions on Saturday mornings from 9a-12p. If you’re in the Keene area you can tune in to WKBK 1290 AM or 104.1 FM. The Talkback discussion thread is here on the Free Keene Forum.
Following that this afternoon she also appeared on Pittsburg’s KDKA with Mike Pintek (.mp3 archive), and Orlando’s WEUS with Ed Tyll (.mp3 archive).
Meg did a great job addressing the issue of TSA invasiveness, as well as promoting the Free State Project, Liberty on Tour, and Free Keene! She’s been through a brutal week with all of this happening and still has yet to return home. She’s heading to an airport in Florida now and hopefully she’ll have better luck this time. After she gets back to NH she’ll have a little more time to breathe, though NECN TV will be here in Keene tomorrow afternoon to interview her. Thanks for being a great spokesperson for liberty, Meg!
In case you missed it, Meg posted earlier today here on the blog, but likely because she is modest, didn’t make a big deal out of the fact that there is a fundraiser going on to help her get home to the Shire from Florida. See, US Airways screwed her over and reneged on their offer to get her home, and she doesn’t have enough cash to get back. Can you help? We’re already halfway to the goal, and any money that is raised over and above the cost of travel will be donated to WeWontFly.com!
UPDATE: Apparently Meg had the money fronted by WeWontFly‘s George Donnelly – thanks George. Every dollar raised will go to pay him back and beyond that will benefit WeWontFly.com
In the controversy surrounding the TSA intimidating Free Keene blogger Meg McLain and removing her from the Ft. Lauderdale airport, someone’s lying, and we know who has a history of lying: The TSA. Yesterday they released some security footage (Video 1, Video 2) of the security area where Meg had her encounter with the TSA agents. The release of the footage was an attempt to make Meg look like she was telling lies, but the evidence points to TSA being the liars. What kind of security footage doesn’t have a timecode? There is no way to tell what happened between the two videos, and the TSA would obviously like us to believe they are contiguous. Regardless, the footage raises many questions about what Meg claimed in our interview with her on Free Talk Live, of which the YouTube video has received about half-a-million hits in a day’s time. Was she actually handcuffed? Did they rip up the ticket? Is the TSA showing us all the footage? These questions and more were asked and answered on 11/11’s Free Talk Live in the third hour, which I have uploaded to YouTube. Thanks to Meg for taking an hour out of her busy schedule to talk with us again to clarify what really happened. Here’s the interview:
In light of my recent TSA encounter, I have received national media attention, including FOX News, Drudge Report, InTouch magazine, and more. Even the TSA published a pair of their own videos, since they had the freedom to do something I was prevented from doing myself – recording. The videos, which lack even the most standard feature(s) of surveillance videos like a time stamp, the ability to show multiple angles of the same area, or even a clear view of one area in general; are supposed to disprove my claims. While everyone is free to determine what they believe to be true, to me this another case of government not giving you the full story. The TSA has continuously been caught in lies to cover the embarrassment of the truth, and this seems to be yet another instance of that, in attempts to misguide attention from the real issue. The biggest question for me is: why is there a large portion of the secondary screening area not shown in either camera angle? An area where much of my incident took place, and where countless others have been taken to be put through a procedure I can only describe as molestation. This should be a concern for everyone.
