It’s not like he has to answer anyone’s questions. He knows you’re going to keep paying whether he answers or not. I mean it’s not like his officers murdered that fleeing suspect when they shot at him as he was running away or anything. Dave Ridley reports:
I was just threatened. Not just me. Everyone in cell block R. At 10:00pm, after head count, everyone was asked to convene downstairs for an important message. I wasn’t sure what this could be about, but I could sense tension in the room from the way the jailers were standing with their hands on their hips. The biggest jailer in the facility was pacing, poised and ready to address the crowd.
“Any of you know (I forget the name)?” He paused to look around the room.
“Silk?,” one inmate responded?
“Yes, Silk. Some of you may know him. He’s out now. There is a female employee, who, whenever she walks into this cell block, hears whispers of, “Silk, Silk”. It’s harassment, plain and simple. (more…)

When I first came to this jail, I was a fish out of water. I was stunned by the jailer’s ever present blank stares as they performed their jobs like automatons. In a voluntary community, giving commands to another human being, putting one’s hands on a stranger, and subjecting one to a needle without consent is foreign, to say the least. That’s not how my community operates. The people with whom I chose to surround myself operate on a strictly voluntary basis ¨C nothing is done except with explicit consent. (more…)
Yeah, it’s 80 degrees and sunny, not a cloud in the sky this Memorial Day. Yeah, I would like to be outside, soaking in the majestic glory of life on Earth. I’m having some trouble getting to that place of ecstasy while I sit here in this cage, alone, surrounded by heavy clanging doors, fluorescent lighting, and blank concrete walls.
But then I remember to count my blessings, not least of which are my loving and caring supporters (more…)
