Greyhound Service to Stay in Keene and Region

Whew! The Sentinel reports:

Greyhound has decided to continue its bus service to Keene a week after sending a letter saying its services would be canceled, a company spokesman said.
Greyhound had also said it would end service to western Massachusetts and southern Vermont, including Brattleboro and Bellows Falls, in June because of low ridership. Those services will also continue, said Timothy Stokes, Greyhound spokesman.
Stokes said this morning that an agreement was reached with the Vermont Agency of Transportation on Wednesday night to continue the service. Stokes did not know how much the cost would be.
Nothing will change in the company’s service, Stokes said.
Roberta Mastrogiovanni, owner of the Corner News in Keene and contracted ticketing agent for Greyhound, said she learned Wednesday night that services would continue.
Mastrogiovanni said she had been receiving calls from people in the area concerned about Greyhound ending service June 20.
“I’m happy,” she said. “People were really upset. I’m glad service will go on uninterrupted.”
