Day 14, 5/20/12 – Derrick J from Jail

5/20/12 Day 14
All the world’s a stage and “Mr. Embry” plays the part of the insensitive jail guard very well today. I am feeling more isolated than ever. Beau read news of the Occupy Movement from the Keene Sentinel and some guys upstairs told me that our friends were outside with signs waving at the jail. Even though they gave me permission to enter their room and look out the window, “Mr. Embry” watched me and said I wasn’t allowed to do that. They were just 10 feet out of reach, but the man with the weapons and the empire flag on his shoulder said NO. How frustrating for a liberty activist. I’m staying calm and breathing deeply, but it is very pinaful to be in here today. Even though it was an alright day in the kitchen, I was sad to I didn’t get to call in to Ladies in Keene because of it. I’m maileing out 4 more letters today at least and probably another one to FK.com before bed. Wow. This pen is almost out of ink. Not bad. A pen lasted 1 week and the black still has half it’s ink left.

Wow, so I just had a great visit with Julia (Free Talk Live Monday night co-host) Ian Freeman, and Amish Paul. “David in Keene” and new-mover Emberlea were visiting Beau beside me. I asked Beau to tell David to post the video he had taken during our last visit, but he got distracted and forgot because Amish Paul came in to the room where David and Emberlea were visiting, and the overlords monitoring the call shut it down with no warning. How insulting. Why would they go out of their ways to futher isolate an individual who is already in jail? How could a person feel that is the right thing to do. It makes me sad. Plus, I do hope David posts that video of our visit online – it was a good one. Ugh. A day of lots of ups and downs. So since I haven’t had more opportunities to write, I should catch up the blog – there is a CUTE guy name Seth who works at JCPenny in Keene who is here now. He was “taken in to custody” from court on Wednesday when I was there for my Live Free or Dance sentencing hearing. He worked with Beau and I in the kitchen today and has been lots of laughs. We often play cards, talk, and eat meals together. He is here for driving on a suspended license AKA traveling the earth without permission from his owners; a victimless criminal. He is a really funny upbeat guy who dates a former co-worker of mine, who is also very nice. He will be leaving Wednesday and then serving the remainder of a 90 day sentence with an ankle bracelet. The bracelet costs the user $20 a day and can moniter location and eve alcohol level but at least he doesn’t have to stay in jail. I’m sorry to see that happen to such a nice guy, and I hope he is not further victimzed by “the state” by “state agents” searching his property or something. He should be left alone – he doesn’t hurt anyone.

So! The lack of writing for the past couple days should be no indication to the reader that not a lot has been happening, but eh opportunity to write when I wan to is not always there, plus I feel like it’s important to socialize when possible but I can’t write at night because my cell mate goes to bed early and needs the lights off because he is a light sleeper who needs a lot of sleep.
Wow, so something interesting just happened while I was writing. “Mr. Lapointe” just came walzing into my cell and looking around the room, under the bed etc. “I’m just looking for something” he said. Well Christ! How about at least a knowck. I realize he may no need permission, but I call this cell home. I politely explaimed my discomfort at his invasive action and casual attitude, and he apologized for his lack of respect. I appreciate that. To err is human. To admit when you erred takes a big man. I really like LaPointe for that. I also would have flushed the toilet before he entered =/
