Merrimack Man Grows Plants, Faces Seven Years of Caging

I wonder how many people reading this blog see news like this and find that it is acceptable to put someone into a cage like an animal for the innocuous act of growing a plant.  I wonder how many of those people think that it is acceptable to seize steal his house (which the state can do) in a “civil forfeiture” proceeding.  There really is nothing civil about a “civil forfeiture” proceeding.  If the state wins the “proceeding,” men with guns will enforce the “ruling.”

Men with guns coming to throw someone out of their own home really is anything but “civil.”

Men with guns killing someone who refuses to be thrown out of their own home is definately not “civil.”

Police said they got a tip that Shawn Proulx had been cultivating marijuana at his home and in the woods nearby.Friday, a police officer followed him to his home on Kimberly Drive and said he watched Proulx tend to marijuana plants.

The guy was growing plants.  Was he hurting anyone?  Is there a difference between growing a Marijuana plant and a tomato plant, other than words on paper saying you cannot do it?  Was there a difference between a black person drinking out of a white water fountain, other than words on paper saying they could not do it?  Was anyone hurt in either of these situations?

Like so many brave people did during the 60s…  people should continue to break the insane laws today,  especially the ones that tell you that you cannot treat your body or real property as if it belong to you.  If you actually own your own body, you should be able to put in it whatever you choose.  If you actually own your property and home, you should be able to grow on it whatever you choose.

These laws are just plain crazy.  Ignore them.
