Opening Doors for People is Considered “Impeding”?

This morning, activists gathered for a grand jury outreach event at the Cheshire superior court. The last time we had a confrontation by the armed men was the very first week almost two years ago where they merely asked what we were there doing. Now, all of a sudden, they have decided to threaten us over, of all things, opening the door for the people entering the building! First a grumpy white-haired female bailiff came out and demanded we stop opening the door for people. When we indicated we had no intention of stopping, she said she’d get the sheriffs. I didn’t have enough time to get my QIK.com broadcasting for this encounter, but I certainly had it ready for when four uniformed armed men came out and did their best to try to intimidate us. More video from another angle to come, but for now, here’s the raw video as originally broadcast at QIK.com. According to the costumed men, it is apparently disorderly conduct and impeding traffic when we hold open the door. Clearly we should have known we were in the people’s way when they smile at us and thank us for getting the door for them! Needless to say, we continued to open the door for folks, despite the threats. Visit the Free Keene Forum for more info on regular jury outreach and grand jury outreach.

Talkback Caller Accuses Liberty Activists of Being “Mentally Insane” – 2010-05-08

Radio TowerLiberty-minded people called “Talkback” on WKBK last week to discuss global climate change, Sam’s KPD late night visit, Sam and Meg being attacked by a court security bureaucrat, protecting and serving the state, open carry, and what the FSP is. Also, a local statist calls in to attack liberty activists for open-carrying, calling them “mentally insane” (of course, in the real world, not all activists open-carry) and says his kids are afraid to walk downtown. Plus, Cynthia makes blanket statements about all liberty activists in Keene, because they are all the same, of course!

Grab the archive.

Do you love liberty and live, work in, visit, or plan to move to the Keene area? If so, it would be great for you to get involved with this project each week. Here’s how you can help:

Please join us for our weekly chat and calling sessions on Saturday mornings from 9a-12p in the Liberty Radio Network Chat room. If you’re online, you can listen to Talkback streamed live via the Liberty Radio Network and if you’re in the Keene area you can tune in to WKBK 1290 AM or 104.1 FM. The Talkback discussion thread is here on the Free Keene Forum.

Cassidy Speaks on Breasts and Equality

CassidyIf you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know Cassidy Nicosia was the trailblazer for topless equality in Keene with her walk down Main St. in 2009. She posted the following thoughts as a comment on the recent Topless Tuesday thread, and I thought her words deserved to be heard as a guest blog post:

I don’t understand why people think bare breasts are so “wrong”. The human body is beautiful, and if men are allowed to walk around topless, so should women.

My breasts are not pornographic, and not made for the eyes of lovers. They are a harmless, life-giving part of my body. I am biologically engineered with breasts to feed my child, not to gain attention from suitors.

Society has perverted what women’s breasts are seen as to enforce puritanical thought processes. The idea that woman is inherently a temptress, and all actions by her are to lure in the unsuspecting, innocent male. That’s ridiculous. And we need to stop teaching our children this; enforcing these narrow-minded ideals, and using the gun of the government to get what we want. Anyone should be able to look at a woman topless in public and barely think about it, the same way it is with men. It happens, and it’s not a big deal. (more…)
