Word just came in through Porc 411 that Cassidy Nicosia’s “Indecent Exposure” charge has been dropped by KPD’s prosecutor, Eli Rivera. Does this mean the KPD is liable for false arrest, kidnapping, or official oppression? I don’t know, but I forgive them for what they’ve done and would encourage them to leave peaceful people alone in the future. Thankfully, now Cassidy doesn’t need to be concerned about being deemed a “sex offender” for acting as free as her male counterparts.
Some liberty ladies had scheduled another topless event in advance of Cassidy’s arraignment, so will that event occur or be rescheduled? I’ll let you know.
Also, here was the Ridley Report’s coverage of the topless outreach event arrest, which did not get pulled from Youtube as our original footage did:
Today as activists attempted to gather at Vendetta for Social Sundays they discovered Vendetta was no longer allowing in people under 21. Vendetta staff apologized and explained it was because their insurance policy only covers people 21 and up. As Social Sundays is an all-ages event, a new location was chosen just down Main St: Armadillo’s Burritos.
Armadillo’s is a liberty activist favorite. They have affordable food, big portions, no table service, adult beverages, and an open, inviting environment. It’s actually appropriate that this change happened at this time. Last week Vendetta had begun to feel a bit cramped as over 40 people were attending Social Sundays! Now at Armadillo’s, we’ll have better deals on food and more floorspace. Sometimes the seating arrangements at Vendetta didn’t really help bring new people into conversations. At Armadillo’s, things are far more spread out – everyone will have easy access to any table’s conversation they’d like to take part in. Plus, people who aren’t alcohol consumers will feel more welcome, with various beverages available.
So, join us for Social Sundays, now starting at 5pm, ending whenever (they close at 7pm), now at Armadillo’s Burritos at 82 Main St. in Keene. Call 603-358-3700 if you are having trouble finding the place, but it’s right next to Railroad Square, the same place we hold Free Keene Fest. Those who have been reading this blog for a while know that one of the coolest things about Armadillo’s is they are always happy to let us use their power for Free Keene Fest. Vendetta is still a great place for adults to consume alcohol, but it’s time for Social Sundays to expand and Armadillo’s is the perfect location.
The Free Keene Forum continues to grow as a resource for activism in Keene as well as for those who are interested in moving to the area. Now with over 500 members, 1200 topics, and 15,000 posts, the Free Keene Forum has become the second most popular NH liberty-oriented forum on the internet, surpassing the NHLA Forum and trailing the NHFree Forum .
To celebrate the continually increasing demand on the Free Keene Forum, new activism subforums have been added! The old “Activism & Events” subforum was the forum’s most popular, so four separate subforums were created to replace it:
Additionally, the “Introduce Yourself” subforum has been made more prominent at the top of the forum. Be sure to stop in there and tell us about yourself before you start posting!
Jump to Forum.FreeKeene.com anytime, or just click the “Forum” link in the list at the top right of the blog here at FreeKeene.com, and join the discussion!
On last week’s “Talkback” on WKBK, liberty activists called to talk about health care. You’ll also get the smarmy Dartmouth guy’s opinion on the matter.
Please join us for our weekly listening, chat, and calling sessions on Saturday mornings from 9a-12p in the Free Keene Chat room. If you’re online, you can listen to Talkback streamed live via the Liberty Radio Network and if you’re in the Keene area you can tune in to WKBK 1290 AM or 104.1 FM. The Talkback discussion thread is here on the Free Keene Forum.
The Granite State Gang
New Hampshire transplants live free — or die trying
By CHRIS FARAONE | August 26, 2009
Big bucks couldn’t buy the viral awe and ire that the Free State Project (FSP) scored on August 11, when New Hampshire resident William Kostric arrived outside President Barack Obama’s Portsmouth Town Hall meeting with a handgun on his right thigh — “open carrying” is quite legal in the Granite State — and a sign declaring IT IS TIME TO WATER THE TREE OF LIBERTY! Kostric, an Arizona transplant who lives in Manchester, has now become a hero in the FSP movement, which, since 2004, has attracted 523 activists to the “Live Free or Die” state in search of “a society in which the maximum role of government is the protection of life, liberty, and property.”
Free Staters — a loose amalgamation of Libertarian offspring who resent drug laws, speed limits, bureaucrats, and taxes — welcome both good and bad publicity. To them, there is little difference between the flattering July 25 Associated Press piece on the group’s annual Porcupine Freedom Festival and Kostric’s legal but arguably distasteful demonstration of his First and Second Amendment rights. Those developments spurred surges in interest; FSP President Varrin Swearingen, of Keene, says (more…)
