Keene, NH, November 3, 2008 — “How can a flag that flies over other nations in oppressive occupation, a flag that has flown over this land as slavery was glorified, a flag that has flown while freedom has been trampled on and rights stripped away[,] ever stand for liberty?” asks a local activist. “It can’t—and it never has,” says Cory “Jesse” Moloney, who is one of a few locals in Keene who feel dissatisfaction with what they insist to be a broken system. To demonstrate his discontent, he will be burning three flags, representing the United States, the United Nations, and the State of New Hampshire, in Central Square at 2:00 P.M. the Monday prior to election day. Moloney is an avid promoter of voluntary action over democratic solutions, which he refers to as “nothing short of institutionalized and glorified slavery.” He openly advocates solving problems with peaceful, cooperative means tailored to each individual instead of what he refers to as a “one-size-fits-all” method that he insists comes with the democratic process.
“Everyone else who participates in the system gets their flag-waving time, their parades that march on down Main Street. They then get that golden opportunity to enable politicians to do what they do, which is often to the detriment of liberty and freedom. Millions will vote, and the outcome will be that someone’s point of view will be force-fed to you whether you like it or not, or whether you even participated in the voting process or not. Frankly, I find it tyrannical, and would even go so far as to say it is immoral,” says Moloney. He justifies burning these flags by insisting that they are the symbols of an unjust cause, the degradation of liberty. “I suppose in a sense, you could say that I am casting my ‘anti-vote.’ While others show how much they support this system, I will be demonstrating my opposition. Here’s Josh’s bio from the bloggers page:
An avowed and proud egoist born and raised in New Hampshire, Josh is new to Keene and is studying architecture at Keene State College. He was fortunate to develop his mind and concepts of reality in a relatively free area of the world. Unfortunately, he was born to such people, been to such “schools” and subjected to such circumstances as to learn from first hand experience the nature of authority and the frustration of constant assault against individualism. With an artists mind and sensibility, Josh has always run against the grain, resisting any and all attempts at confinement and conformity. Rejecting the notion of God as nonsense by age six, he has always felt a compulsion to shatter the illusions of authority around him. The pseudonym Vesuvius describes perfectly the new fire of activism and awareness roaring from a once dormant peak, the activism of the Free State Project being that awakening rumble.

For the time being, you can only listen to Free Talk Live on the radio in Keene on Saturday nights from 7 to 10p, and that’s only if the Red Sox aren’t playing. However, when it does actually air, you can now hear Keene’s own internationally syndicated talk radio program on four FM and AM frequencies: the “conservative” talker WKBK 104.1 FM and 1290 AM and the new “progressive” talker WZBK 103.1 FM and 1220 AM. (1220 is also in HD.)
If you would like to hear the show all six nights a week please get in touch with Dan Mitchell at WKBK or Peter Case at WZBK. The business lines for both stations are 603-352-9230 and 802-254-2343, respectively. Also, the General Manager is Bob Cox, and I’m sure he’d appreciate hearing from you as well. Please only contact these gentlemen if you live within the Keene listening area!

Today, I paid a visit, under duress of course, to Keene “district court”. Video of the event will be posted to FreeKeene later on, and you can hear audio and my thoughts on tonight’s Free Talk Live. Unfortunately, this morning “judge” Edward Burke interrupted me before I could get to the appreciative comments I had intended to share with him. I was inspired to write him a letter with my thoughts, especially after one of the “court” bureaucrats told me that I “wasn’t allowed” to communicate with Mr. Burke. Considering I have not consented to their process at all, and there is no evidence of an agreement between us, I’m not sure how that particular bureaucrat could make such a claim. I’m presuming she was uninformed. Here is my open letter to Edward Burke. I will be sending a signed copy to Mr. Burke via private delivery signature service.
Mr. Burke,
Earlier today, I had intended to tell you of my appreciation for some of the decisions you have made recently. I will do so now, as I have the opportunity. I’d like to thank you for your recent “not guilty” decision in Nick Ryder’s “speeding” case, your sensible decision to allow multiple recording devices into your “court”, allowing camera panning, and the reasonable ways you handled Russell Kanning and David Krouse’s “driving without registration” cases. Also, a while back I was pleased with how you handled David Manning’s “illegal U-turn” situation. You appear to be a reasonable man and I hope this letter finds you and approachable mood.
Before I continue, I’d like to apologize for the rather unusual situation you have been put in. (more…)
