Get a clue, Limbaugh – Free Staters aren’t conservatives! (or liberals)

Well, the good news is the Cynthia Chase story that we broke here at Free Keene has gone national in a big way, with Breitbart and Rush Limbaugh picking up the story.

The bad news is that they got a key point of the story wrong. WAY wrong.

Cynthia Chase said that “Free Staters are the single biggest threat the state is facing today.” However, the conservative media is reporting the story as though she said Conservatives are the single biggest threat.

Get a clue. Free State Project participants are NOT “conservative”, nor are they “liberal”. We love liberty.

The Free Staters that I know all support ending the insane war on drugs. They are LGBT-friendly (or actually LGBT). They are anti-war. Are those “conservative” positions?

If you love liberty, meaning the freedom to live your life as you wish, so long as you don’t harm others, then you should join the Free State Project. However, if you’re a “conservative” that wants to control people’s sex lives or what they put in their bodies, then you won’t fit in. You should stay where you are.

“the Free State Project has established a foothold in New Hampshire” – Union Leader’s NewHampshire.com

The indicators of the Free State Project‘s success in NH just keep coming as the Union Leader’s NewHampshire.com site continues its series about the FSP. The third and final article in their weekly series focuses on what is next for the Free State Project:

Editor’s note: This is the last in a series exploring the Free State Project. This week, we look at what the future holds for the Free State movement.

The logo of the Free State Project includes a crudely drawn image of a porcupine, a symbol that became part of the movement’s iconography after an online vote by early project participants.
The porcupine won out over more conventional symbols of liberty, such as the “Don’t Tread on Me” snake, menacing and coiled, depicted in the early American flag designed by Gen. Christopher Gadsden.

According to the Free State Project’s website, the porcupine was chosen by popular vote of its members because something more original and “public relations-friendly” was desired to emphasize the “freshness” of the movement’s approach.

“Porcupines are cute and nonaggressive, but you certainly don’t want to step on them,” explains the official literature of the organization.

There’s little doubt that the Free State Project has established a foothold in New Hampshire. (more…)

Keene Police Scanner Audio is Fixed!

If you have been trying to access the Keene Police Scanner stream over the past few days, it has sounded very distorted. That problem has been solved and the audio is again clear and understandable.

As always, you can tune in via your favorite media player via your computer or smartphone to KPD.FreeKeene.com (just use “open URL” in your favorite media player and put that in). If that link doesn’t work, you can enter: http://98.143.36.105:6060/live

The easiest way to listen on your smartphone is probably the Tunein app. It’s available for all phone operating systems. Just install the app and search for “Keene police”.

Hundred Nights’ Subscription Button Now Working!

As mentioned in a previous article, Hundred Nights shelter is looking to raise about $1,000 per month in pledges from individuals before mid-January.

Unfortunately, when originally announced, the subscribe button on their site turned out to be broken, so those who attempted to pledge were unable to do so.

The button is now working! Please drop by Hundred Nights’ website and click “subscribe” in the top-left to contribute at least $10 per month to support Keene’s only independent homeless shelter.

Here’s an updated Facebook event to which you can invite your friends.

Keene Receives Uncle Sam’s Attack Truck

It was a cold and rainy morning as the Bearcat attack truck was put on display to the public for the first time in Keene, New Hampshire. Between nine and eleven ante meridiem, the Ballistic Engineered Armored Response Counter Attack Truck was on display with the motor running and the rear doors open, revealing the personnel carrying compartment which seats eight. With the driver and passenger seat, the truck fits ten commandos comfortably, and came standard with no less than ten gun ports. While the KPD didn’t receive the additional gas injector arm, LRAD, or a .50 caliber to mount atop their rotating turret, the powerful fixed FLIR camera gives the department new vision as hunters. The infrared lens can see warm bodies in the darkness, as the image is created by detecting thermal signatures instead of light, akin to the alien antagonist in the sci-fi thriller Predator.

Among those who braved the weather, there was much speculation as to how the Bearcat would be first put to use. While those who tried selling the prospect of the Bearcat to the people claimed it could be used as a rescue vehicle, tour guides acknowledged that it was a standard Ford pickup truck on an enhanced frame with armor. It is not capable of traversing flood waters any more than its unarmored counterpart, beyond the additional elevation provided by the large wheels.

The attack truck is equipped with environmental detectors on the exterior of the vehicle. The sensors are capable of recognizing certain chemical, biological, and radiation dangers. However, the interior itself is in no way insulated from any of these potential threats, as it does not have its own pressurized cabin. The boondoggle also features three spotlights, and all the flashes and noises one would expect from a police vehicle. (more…)
