Several Bitcoin Wallets Installed At Cheshire Fair Thus Far

Local liberty activists are manning a bitcoin outreach booth at this year’s Cheshire Fair, going on through Sunday. Thus far several bitcoin wallets have been installed, already surpassing the three we had installed last year.  Many folks have asked questions and still more are open to accepting an informational flier about the awesome cryptocurrency.

If you’ve been wondering about bitcoin, drop in and see us at the fair!  We’ll get you hooked up with a free bitcoin wallet for your smartphone and if you want, you can try out the original Keene bitcoin vending machine!

It’s our fourth year at the annual Cheshire Fair! Keene liberty activists including Derrick J Freeman, Chris Cantwell, yours truly, and others will be manning the Bitcoin outreach booth. For the second year, the booth is featuring the original Keene Bitcoin Vending Machine. (The other, improved BVM is still at 101 Deals Thrift Store.) We’ll have the usual propaganda on hand from Copblock, the Foundation for NH Independence, NH Jury, and Shire Society. You can also declare your independence by signing the Shire Society Declaration and take it home to keep.

See you at the 2015 Cheshire Fair, today through Sunday on route 12 in Swanzey!

Region’s Only Bitcoin Vending Machine Upgraded!

Lamassu BVM

The Keene Bitcoin Vending Machine @ 101 Deals

The region’s only Bitcoin Vending Machine (located at 101 Deals Thrift Store) still looks the same on the outside. It’s got the same, bright, quick, easy-to-use interface. Internally, though. a major upgrade has been made. The machine is no longer relying on blockchain.info for sending customers’ bitcoin and instead is using its own full bitcoin node. Though it nearly always worked previously, it’s now going to be rock-solid-reliable.

As of this writing, the Keene Bitcoin Vending Machine has served more than 30 BTC to various buyers in the last two months. Now, with the price of a full bitcoin rising to nearly $300 USD in recent weeks, there is renewed interest in the reliable, decentralized internet currency. You can learn more about bitcoin at WeUseCoins.com

You can try the Keene Bitcoin Vending Machine for as little as $1. Just get a bitcoin wallet for your smartphone like Airbitz and drop into 101 Deals Thrift Store at 661 Marlboro St. in Keene from Tue-Fri 11a-5p and Saturday 10a-6p.

Keene T-Shirt Maker, “The Mountain” to Accept Bitcoin!

Three Wolf Moon

Soon to be available for bitcoin!

Keene’s bitcoin network is growing! Now in addition to Corner News, Moda Suo, Carroll Garden Center, and The Farm Concessions, Keene’s “The Mountain” has announced they’ll be accepting bitcoin! The Mountain is world-renown for their “Three Wolf Moon” shirt, that went viral online. Now The Mountain is teaming up with NH-based bitcoin payment processor ziftrPAY to accept bitcoin (and other altcoins) for their products, starting this Summer.

Interestingly, per capita, (based on data from CoinMap) Keene has more bitcoin-accepting businesses than San Francisco, which has recently been promoted in news articles as the city with the strongest bitcoin presence.

Businesses that accept bitcoin are able to tap into a new market and also virtually eliminate transaction fees.  Credit card companies usually hit a business for about 3% of each transaction, and bitcoin’s fee is just pennies, no matter the size of the transaction. By adding bitcoin as an option for their customers, businesses keep more profit from each bitcoin transaction than if they were to use credit card.  Whether you are a buyer or a merchant, you can learn more about bitcoin here at WeUseCoins.com.

Bitcoin Bus Tour Launches from Keene!

Bitcoin Bus Parked at the LRN.FM Studios

The Uncoinventional Family & Bitcoin Bus Parked at the LRN.FM Studios

In the long tradition of interstate, large-vehicle liberty tours launching from or traveling through Keene including Motorhome Diaries and Liberty on Tour, the Bitcoin Bus kicks off an “uncoinventional” tour across the Eastern United States!  Free State Project participants John Bush, Cat Bleish and their two kids have taken possession of the Unschool Bus and have converted it into the Bitcoin Bus!

Today, the family rolled out from the Shire to their next destination in New York and will stop in other places along the way to their home of Austin, Texas.  Along the way their goal is to spend only bitcoin.  This is the family’s third bitcoin-only tour, but the first for the Bitcoin Bus!

LRN.FM is sponsoring the bus (with bitcoin, of course) as are some other great sponsors including the super-cool new WageCan, which is finally offering a bitcoin-based Mastercard tied to a bank account in Hong Kong.

You can follow them along via their Uncoinventional website which features a podcast and plenty of photos.
