Robin Hood and the Merry People are pleased to announce a very special public event to be held on Central Square on Friday, 09 May 2014. To commemorate the first year anniversary of service of the lawsuit by the city of Keene against Robin Hood and friends, a free barbeque for the people will kick off at 5:00pm, just as the hours of parking enforcement conclude for the day. All peaceful people are invited to take part in this event and are free to bring along food and drink to share, or simply bring one’s own smile and share in the good company of others.
The people’s BBQ will be a great opportunity to meet Robin Hooders and other activists in the Keene area, and to voice one’s own ideas for how to make our community’s activities more effective. Beef tacos and bottled water will be available for all, as well as a vegan option to be determined. For more information, check out the event on Robin Hood of Keene’s facebook page.
After the 420 celebrations had hit Keene and Manchester in 2009 on a daily basis, liberty activists created semi-yearly 420 events at the Concord state house, one on November 5th, the other on April 20th. The April event turned five this year, and dozens gathered on the steps of the state house to smoke cannabis in defiance of the insane “war on drugs”.
As has been the tradition NH natives and Free State Project participants first held signs and conversed out by Main Street before walking to the state house steps to officially kick off the event.
FSP early mover Rich Paul, the event organizer, who was absent last year due to being incarcerated for selling the illegal flowers, once again took the helm and megaphone to issue his standard call to action,
“We smoke these in remembrance of lost liberties and in hope for a day when the people do not fear their government, because the government fears the people! Smoke ’em if you got ’em!”
Cannabis was smoked by many and even a couple of NH state representatives got into the action, including Mike Sylvia, who had pledged to toke up if there were enough people wearing fancy outfits to the event. Kudos to Mike and all the others who had the courage to come out and face possible misdemeanor charges for possession of a plant. Of course, as with previous years, the police left us alone – this year not even making an appearance besides driving by on Main St.
It’s time for drug prohibition to end. If you love freedom, please move to NH and get active! Already in NH? Check out the 420 Foundation and NH NORML as well.
Yesterday was a historic day for alternative currencies in Keene, New Hampshire, as the Aqua Keene Parking Force division of the Democratic People’s Republic of Keene police accepted — with no questions asked — the unique and impressive Obamacoin. Obamacoins were introduced to the world several years ago through fabulous infomercial campaigns which ran on both late night and daytime television. Viewers of Cheshire television may be familiar with the elaborate art film inspired by and crafted with actual Obamacoin testimonials, RENDER UNTO OBAMACOIN.
The currency consists of varying forms of artwork imitating coin design orbiting around the profile image of Barack Obama, applied to real-life united states government federal reserve coins, often quarters, nickels, dimes, half dollars, and dollar tokens. In some cases, the raised profile of the political figure emblazoned beneath the Obama sticker is vaguely visible through the creative addition. In yesterdays test payment of Obamacoin to cover the cost of a $5 parking ticket issued by the AKPF, only a brief admiration and inspection of the new currency was given before a receipt was promptly being printed up and the citation’s debt eliminated. With the coins’ potential as collectors items to bring the value to the moon, who knows at what price the city of Keene was able to auction the individual coins for? Not only is the introduction of Obamacoin into the local economy an encouraging development, but it is also a promising sign of a willingness to adapt on the part of city officials that they retain a great deal of openness to unexplored concepts such as alternative currency. Given the booms and busts of other monetary alternatives, the individual is at a loss to predict what possible exchange rates Obamacoin will establish itself at as businesses begin accepting and trading with this new system.
As has occurred annually since 2010, the 4/20 celebration is organized to proceed as usual on the state house lawn in Concord, New Hampshire. The disobedience rally in the supreme political venue provided by the state house originally occurred at the revered time on Guy Fawkes Day of 2009, and became a yearly occurrence when a larger group held a celebration in April of 2010. Free Concord has covered the event in 2011, 2012, and 2013, and is expected to collect content from the ritual again. Check out the facebook event page for details on the upcoming festivities.
