Ademo is Out!
After apologizing to the man in the robe, Ademo was released from his cage today. Pete Eyre and Rich Angell’s trials are scheduled for 6/27. Video to come.

Julian Heicklen, nationally known Fully Informed Jury Association activist, has taken the time to write to Keene district court’s Ed Burke regarding Pete and Ademo’s caging. Letter courtesy of CopBlock.org:
Gentle People:
On January 24, 2011, a person was arrested by Judge Edward Burke for disrespect because he was wearing a hat in the Keene, NH courthouse. Does this mean that orthodox Jewish and Sikh men, as well as Muslim women, will not be allowed to wear head coverings in a courtroom, even though their religion requires a head covering as a mark of respect for a higher judge?
This arrest is a violation of religious freedom, as guaranteed by Amendment I of the U. S. Constitution. Must people remove their wigs and head pieces to be in a courtroom? (more…)
Since I was unable to attend the hearing for HB240 on Tuesday, I instead asked bill co-sponsor Seth Cohn about events there.
According to Cohn, the hearing didn’t go as well as he had hoped.
Secretary of State William Gardner, who oversees New Hampshire elections, spoke against the bill, arguing that New Hampshire should not be the first state to try this out, in case there are unintended consequences. (Gardner has apparently been NH Secretary of State since 1976. I don’t know how or why.)
Although he thinks passing the bill will be a struggle, Cohn added that bill supporters intend to “fight the good fight” on the House floor regardless of how the House Election Law committee votes.
Added: Approval voting advocate “Clay Doe”, in the comments, wants me to promote his informative page about HB240. It’s awesome, so I will. The Center for Election Science, HB240.
Ademo’s first letter has come out from jail for public consumption, thanks to the folks at CopBlock.org:
To the best movement in the world,
First, I’d like to say THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart every last one of you rock! With Pete’s insane arrest and with my crazy jail sentence – it has all been one hell of a ride.
People have partaken in call floods, operated websites, conducted media blitzes (to mainstream and social networks), created videos, wrote letters, changed profile pics and much much more. Again, thank you all.
Though from what I’m able to hear from inside Cheshire Co. Jail there are some questions about what to do now? As well as the occasional back and forth about what tactics to use? Before I get into what I’ve asked people to do, I want to make one point: WE’VE ALREADY DONE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART! (AND VERY WELL IMO)
To me, highlighting (and having it on video) the fact that a person can be assaulted, dragged from a room and caged for wearing a hat is the main focus. (more…)
Ademo’s caging for speaking in court just got a big boost in publicity thanks to Carlos Miller’s blog post:
Adam Mueller of Cop Block and Liberty On Tour has been incarcerated for the past week for voicing his outrage at a judge during a video arraignment of his buddy, Pete Eyre.
Eyre was being arraigned because he had been wearing a hat inside the Keene, New Hampshire courtroom. A bailiff had ordered him to remove the hat, which he refused.
Within seconds, a cop pounced on him, twisting his arms behind his back. Before he knew it, he was being led out of the courtroom by two cops and the bailiff.
All this before the judge even set foot into the courtroom. (more…)
Hello Officer Cemorelis,
I’m writing to you today to inform you that I am VERY disappointed in your performance this morning in the courtroom. I have known you for several years and thought you were so much better than that. I have heard from several sources (including your ex wife and yes, even some colleagues) about many underhanded things you have done, but have always stuck up for you saying that you are one of the “few good ones” in Keene. You are intelligent, funny, and charming. Now I also know you to be short fused, drunk on power, and a man of little to no morals. I am so sorry for whatever happened to change you into such a wretch, but please do NOT take it out on peaceful people.
My friend was merely sitting quietly in the courtroom in support of others (There are multiple videos out showing this). He was not being disruptive, nor was he any type of threat. Yet you felt it ok to smack this wonderful being right out of his chair? Have I mentioned how disappointed I am in your DISGUSTING conduct?? (more…)
