MJThanks to Mother Jones magazine’s Tim Murphy for this excellent coverage of Keene liberty activism and the Free State Project. Though, the headline “GOP Heads to Porcupine Country” is quite inaccurate. Most people I know don’t give a whit about the GOP. Also, the poll statistics they present in the sidebar doesn’t describe the “libertarians” I know. Aside from those minor critiques, the article itself is very good.

Kate Found Guilty of “Resisting” and “Disorderly Conduct”

Kate AgerFree Concord’s Garret Ean has a full report on the results of Kate’s arrest at the Manchester chalking event this summer:

Yesterday, Kate Ager received via USPS mail the verdict from judge William Lyons regarding her trial at Manchester district court on September 12. Of the three remaining charges (the state was pursuing four at trial, one was dropped prior to the delayed verdict) Kate was found not guilty of false report, guilty of resisting, and guilty of violation-level disorderly conduct. The state was pursuing misdemeanor level convictions for all of the charges, so it appears Mr. Lyons himself determined that Kate was not guilty of the ‘disorderly’ misdemeanor charge, but found her actions to qualify at the violation level.

Manchester Cop Attacks Student – Union Leader Reports

Copblock has originated shocking video of a Manchester cop abusing a young man in a school cafeteria:

The Union Leader reports:

MANCHESTER — A video showing a confrontation between a Manchester West High student and the school’s resource officer last week was not a setup, according to the student who filmed it.

But Mike Proulx, 17, says when he saw Detective Darren Murphy approach his friend Frank Harrington in the school cafeteria last Monday, he did think about the two men he and Harrington recently met who call themselves CopBlock and encourage civilians to videotape police officers.

So Proulx pulled out his iPod Touch and hit record.

What happened between Murphy and Harrington led to the student’s arrest and an internal investigation by the Manchester Police Department, expected to be completed early this week.

Adam Mueller and Pete Eyre, the founders of CopBlock.org, said they met Proulx and Harrington by happenstance a few weeks ago at a park on the city’s west side. They told the youths about their crusade to encourage people to film police officers on the job and gave them a DVD featuring videos of their activities in New Hampshire and other states. (more…)
