Another response to Rep. Burridge

Count me in as someone who astounded at Mr. Burridge’s reply to Toby’s email. I not only covered this on WKBK this morning (shameless plug: go to wkbkam.com and select streaming audio to hear the show) but drafted my own response to him. I’ve also been trying to reach Executive Councilor Deb Pignatelli about Mr. Burridge’s conduct toward one of his constituents. Her office number is 603-888-5245 but has been out of order today, probably due to the ice storm. Below is my email response.

Dear Rep.Burridge:
First, please accept my sympathy on the tragic death of your brother. I cannot imagine the pain you must feel.
That said, I’m amazed you would actually tell a constituent to “change his friends” and “make a great snitch”, and actually shameful you would find pleasure to “dime” a person with no knowledge that person has ever broken a law.
I am a non-drinker who is always a designated driver by the way and support very harsh penalties for impaired driving, but I’m truly amazed at the utter contempt you’ve shown toward the people you supposedly represent. I respectfully suggest you’re letting emotion stand in the way of sensible lawmaking-as a former PO I’d think you’d know almost no marijuana user is violent and the vast number of people
caught in the legal system by these outdated drug laws clog the court system and costs the State a lot of money that could be redirected into other areas like education, property tax relief, even drug treatment.
I intend to bring your email to the attention of House leaders and let them decide if your email warrants further action.
I truly wish you the best and hope you try and value the people you represent instead of insulting them.
