AnarchoJesse Arrested for Illegal Gardening!
This morning, Free Keene blogger AnarchoJesse was arrested for “Excavating without a permit” as he was working on creating a community garden at Keene’s Central Square park. Activists were on-scene with video cameras. Look for a more detailed Ryder Report later, but here is the initial live footage of him tilling the land prior to the police arriving and his subsequent arrest. He was booked and released with a complaint demanding he “answer” it by May 12th. It sounds like he’ll be taking this to trial and refusing to pay any fines.

Damn. I can’t wait to see what happens at the court date. Is there a “three strikes” rule in NH?
When an individual is arrested they are then under police protective custody. I think someone should file charges against this arresting officer for needlessly endangering AnarchoJesse’s life. This finest example of Keene’s police department chose to search his body while he was handcuffed standing in the middle of the road with cars passing by at 30 miles per hour. As you can see and hear there are cars streaming by within inches of his life.
If the police are supposed to protect you why did he not search his body while they were on the sidewalk by the squad car and out of harms way? He could have searched him behind the squad car where he would have been at least several feet away from the danger of moving traffic. This officer should be fired for his irresponsible behavior with AnarchoJesse while he was hancuffed and under the responsibility of the arresting officer.
It’s hilarious how the violent thug says “there’s all kinds of underground conduit and stuff”. But if that’s true, doesn’t code require it to be 18″ deep or so? From the video it looks like he’s only digging up a few inches of top soil.
Compliments to Jesse for doing something peaceful to protest irresponsible Government Spending.
I should think the trial will be very interesting, should he go that route (and it sounds like he will). Thanks Jesse.
doesn’t code require it to be 18? deep or so?
Yes. If not deeper. I don’t know NH code, but when I put a water line in here in OK I believe it was 36″.
I haven’t seen eye to eye with Jesse that much in the past but I wholeheartedly support his attempt to save the City of Keene $5000 and provide the people of Keene with fresh, organic produce.
I do hope he takes this to court and, if nothing else, gets them to publicly admit that their definition of “public property” does not mean that it “belongs to everyone” and that any such claim by a public official is fraudulent.
A sallow, bearded man, his head bowed in noble sacrifice so that the lustful violence of the state might be placed on horrific display. How appropriate on these weekend when so many take note of a similar event they believe took place over two thousand years ago. The drama. The profundity. I’d watch it again, but the excitement of the event (not to mention the production values) is so transcendent I might soil myself. Although in that circumstance, who could doubt that it is the very excrement of freedom and liberty? Much like the intellectual processes of bloggers on this site.
AnAmazedReader, you’re an ass– I was building a garden for public access on public land, for use by low-income families, with privately attained funds, and arrested for violating an excavation ordinance that is designed to protect wires four feet down.
So which is it you’re opposed to– me using communal property for communal use? Helping low-income families and individuals? Using private funds to make the venture work? Or for digging 3 inches down with the intent of going maybe another extra few inches when the wires should be 36 inches down?
He still hasn’t answered whether he’s the guy that calls Talkback who works at Dartmouth.
This statist troll must have gotten last place in the local dick-measuring contest and then decided to soothe his ego by coming to this site and making smug, asinine posts in an attempt to feel intellectually superior without actually doing the mental gymnastics it would take to mount even the most primitive challenge against the philosophy of liberty.
When you’re entirely without scruples and morally-bankrupt, I suppose being a total ass with zero responsibility for your words or deeds makes it easier to get your rocks off.
Jesse – are you so unaware that a public garden already exists in the community? You are an absolute coward. Stop hiding behind false arguments to justify your stupidity – there really is no excuse for you. Your intentions are not to do any good at all for this community or its citizens – so don’t bring the less fortunate into your justification for your actions – that is morally irresponsible of you (oh, that’s right! I forgot! You have no morals!). Why don’t you do something constructive for the community rather than doing something that is divisive and polarizing? The result of your actions will only continue to show this community that you and your cronies are truly without a cause and aren’t worth paying any attention too.
Also, stop twisting this up with the money for the feasibility study for the food coop. Did you know that the STATE gave money to that as well? Oh, and the Feds are gonna give money to it too! And guess what, if it happens, citizens are gonna give money to it as well either through their membership or in outright donations. The development of a food coop or a market in downtown Keene is something that this community has desired for years (Friends of Center City did much work on this issue with the community and merchants and it was something that came through loud and clear in the community vision) and now a group of 50 plus community members are volunteering their time and actively working on supporting local agriculture in our community and the region. Oh, and they’ve been working on this for over a year now. Of course, you and your cronies would know that if you bothered to really learn a thing or two about this place that you all have “chosen” for your “movement”. You’ll never gain ground – pun intended. Congratulations on being completely ineffective yet again and being the laughing stock of Keene! I’m clapping – but you can’t tell. An Amazed Reader has it right! Keep writing it up, Amazed!
Oh, and you just spent the community’s money by doing something that requires the provision of public services, which are paid for by the citizens of this community! I think you should have to pay it back. All of you pay for those services through indirectly through rent or directly through property taxes. Aren’t any of you pissed he just wasted your money?
Jesse – are you so unaware that a public garden already exists in the community?
Assuming this is true, then it strengthens the argument that it was unnecessary for the “City” to spend $5000 of stolen funds to pay for research to find out whether a farm co-op will or will not be financially sustainable.
Jesse has supported farm co-ops in the past (that weren’t paid for with stolen funds). His intention was to do what the “City” said it apparently could not do: create a sustainable garden without using $5000 of stolen funds. Don’t project your own biases onto his intentions and call it fact. It’s disingenuous of you.
As for morals, it’s statists like yourself who champion theft and force as legitimate methods of accomplishing your desires that is immoral and represhensible.
Why don’t you do something constructive for the community rather than doing something that is divisive and polarizing? The result of your actions will only continue to show this community that you and your cronies are truly without a cause and aren’t worth paying any attention too.
Jesse was doing something constructive. He wasn’t out destroying lives by caging or robbing people for disobeying a multitude of diktats written down on paper and agreed upon by a gang of violent individuals who self-justify their actions in the name of the “common good”.
Also, stop twisting this up with the money for the feasibility study for the food coop. Did you know that the STATE gave money to that as well? Oh, and the Feds are gonna give money to it too!
Yay! It’s a Theft Party! Because other gangs are donating stolen funds, that makes it A-OK!
And guess what, if it happens, citizens are gonna give money to it as well either through their membership or in outright donations.
Maybe, maybe not. You won’t know until they actually build it. It would be nice if they did so without using stolen funds.
That’s wonderful. And we wouldn’t have a problem with it if they’d raised the money legitimately instead of asking the local gang for a handout and accepting stolen funds.
Of course, you and your cronies would know that if you bothered to really learn a thing or two about this place that you all have “chosen” for your “movement”.
Knowing all of that doesn’t change the fact they used stolen funds. And they didn’t even use it to actually create the co-op but to find out if one might be financially workable. They only way to find that out is to DO IT (preferably with your own money).
You’ll never gain ground – pun intended. Congratulations on being completely ineffective yet again and being the laughing stock of Keene! I’m clapping – but you can’t tell. An Amazed Reader has it right! Keep writing it up, Amazed!
Yeah! Let’s support theft, coercion and violence and consider ourselves morally and intellectually superior! Yay Government!
Oh, and you just spent the community’s money by doing something that requires the provision of public services, which are paid for by the citizens of this community! I think you should have to pay it back.
There is no “Community Money”. There is only “money squeezed out of victims called taxpayers through coercion and the threat of violence”.
All of you pay for those services through indirectly through rent or directly through property taxes. Aren’t any of you pissed he just wasted your money?
Yes, all of us are robbed through property taxes. Hence our issues with the City using our stolen funds.
Regarding Comment by Sam’s Dad on April 11…
If someone files charges against the cop for endangering AJ in the street ya probably should carefully watch all the clips right through. It looked like he was in a parallel parking space in a 25mph zone just outside the square, and it looked like there was plenty of room for cars to drive by, and the cop was further out than AJ anyway. It couldn’t have been that hazardous, since one of the camera guys stepped right out even further, near the front of the cops car. So, that’s kind of a silly thing to say.
On a serious note, perhaps AJ should be charged for seriously threatening many people (at least the camera guy and everyone else in the square). Look at the first clip, where he’s walking in holding a bunch of stuff and his rifle. When he dumps the stuff (or trips, I canna tell which) he flags everyone with the muzzle. What kind of statement would that make for the FSP if AJ shot his own cameraman?
And, the last clip, right near the end, it sounded like all the FSP-ers followed the cop to his car and left the rifle leaning against that tree. When the cop points this out, someone says “That other cop’s back there” or something like that. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Probably a good thing this little incident doesn’t make prime time…little bit embarassing for “the cause,” if you look at it neutrally.
Rock on, friends —- Joseph S.
The cop made a false arrest. NH law specifically excludes “tilling of soil for agricultural purposes.” (see below)
Luckily, you’ve got the cop on video verbally admitting the unlawful probable cause for his false arrest.

The fact that you get so excited and have No Problem using Other People’s money (confiscated = stolen) is very revealing as to the Moral Code you live by.
My only wish is you were able to analize your actions based on principle, but I don’t know if you’re capable of doing that. I hope so for all our sakes!
Are you down with O.P.P.?
Anarchojesseisanass: “Yeah, you know me!”
Who’s down with O.P.P.?
AnAmazedReader: “Alla statist ho-mies!”
scared little statists scurrying home from the welfa. .. whoops I mean government job to check FreeKeene.com to become the peanut gallery.

It must suck to be Lt. Shane Maxfield. He has to arrest these activists and then explain why. He doesn’t seem like a bad guy at all…
Oh Puess,
Feeling cranky? Has a life of utter failure got you down? Has your manic, masturbatory and meaningless usage of terms like “theft”, “stolen” and the like brought you to the point at which you are just shooting blanks?
Hang in there, Puessy; there’s no doubt that better days await you! I can just see you in all your glory at the annual Freaker’s Ball (held at the hot dog stand at the corner of Main Street and Railroad Square), clutching your Golden Moron Award for Knee-Jerk Rhetoric, Automaton Division, channeling your inner Sally Fields and crying with joy, screaming: “You think I’m irrelevant; you REALLY think I’m irrelevant!!!”. The entire exciting event will be caught on video by a cadre of emaciated, bearded men-children with really bad hand-eye coordination. Good times, good times……
Amazed …a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
And still you avoid challenging us on the logic of our philosophy. This means you either don’t know what it is, don’t understand it or you’re entirely impotent to mount such a challenge.
Being an angry, intolerant bigot, you had little choice but to be peeved at “them darn Free Staters wantin’ ta live free and all” and for not “obeyin’ the authoritahs” so you decided to relieve your frustrations by posting smug, sarcastic comments on this site, projecting your failure as a human being onto us and our strange phi-los-o-phy.
Maybe if you recruit enough other closed-minded people and get them “all riled up”, you can put on some white sheets and chase us around town with torches.
Tell me what you're thinking...
