Proof isn’t Enough for Bureaucrats

Recently, Ian Freeman met with Keene City Manager John MacLean to discuss the city’s policy on city government employees committing crimes on the job.  However, instead of discussing the best way to deal with the inappropriate behavior of city employees who steal and hurt people, this meeting brings up a different problem in local government… lying.  Apparently video proof isn’t enough to overrule the word of bureaucrats.

'You can't show me the proof…'

    Good stuff!

"He tripped and fell"!? Oh c'mon, that's the oldest excuse for abuse in the book. Surely you can come up with a better BS story than that Rivera.

Apparently video evidence doesn't matter, it's what the bureaucrats say that defines truth. I'd boycott such a corrupt organization, which is unresponsive to customer concerns, but they threaten to steal people's houses and throw them in prison if they don't pay up.

As I say, it's the business model of Al Capone. They even enforce a monopoly on alcohol.

Its obvious, he thinks you're crazy… and has automatically written off anything you say before you say it.

  • NonEntity

Excellent work, Sam, and good work Ian, too.

I like the calm, professional manner in which both of you handled yourselves. I think that is far more convincing to those who may be on the fence, or who are inclined to automatically believe the bureaucrats. BTW, a new definition I heard the other day:

Bureaucrat: one who has no responsibility for his or her actions.

    "I love this community…"

Now give me your money and obey! Or else…

  • END GAME

Nobody wants to play ball with you guys anymore… BTW Ian you can choose not to shop here, you could always relocate. How do you know that the man you shot in the end didnt commit a crime involving a victim?

  • Observer

Look at that, even End Game has been influenced by the Libery message – after the word "crime" he adds "involving a victim". Amazing.

  • Dan

End Game, I think the point he was making was that he's been charged for the same crime three times, not that he's an upstanding member of the community.

    Awesome video! Great job OTN!

That's called being effective & it really burns you up inside to know others are living free. Now go shine your badge and get over yourself.

BTW Ian you can choose not to shop here, you could always relocate.

Translation: If you don't like being a slave here then you can be a slave anywhere else in the world. Listen, Einstein, he doesn't want to be a slave, he wants to make his part of the world free. Just because you love to wallow in your own servitude to the state like some pig in his own slop, most certainly doesn't mean that others are obligated to think as you do.

Ignore it if you want, yet the state motto of New Hampshire still is "Live Free or Die".

    Nice.

File an official complaint. Your video looks like convincing evidence.

Didn't you lose something like $200/hour for the loss of your recording equipment that was confiscated without reason?

This clearly is a cause of action. At least in a small claims court.

    Praise be, gents.

If I may make a suggestion..

Could you ask him to state that any bureaucrat, hypothetically speaking, caught stealing from someone would be held accountable? If you had asked him to forget this instance of theft, but consider a hypothetical, future, one, where the theft wasn't in question… do you think he would be willing to state for the record that any bureaucrat who steals a camera from the press will be fired, and charged? Could he request an officer accompany the press, and protect them from theft, kidnapping, imprisonment, assault, etc.?

The state almost never protects anyone, but they occasionally try to hold criminals accountable when they finally get around to doing their job. In the instance of a bureaucrat aggressor, will there be neither protection, nor justice?

If the mayor does not want to deal with the free keene folks he can always relocate. That goes for anyone else, it's a free country or is it?

I think the mayor had legal advise to not look at the video. That way he can say "I know nothing" and stay out of legal trouble. If he views the video and does nothing then he is an accessory to the crime.

Those people that lied in their reports have conspired to cover up a crime. They are all guilty of violating your civil rights and conspiring to cover the crime.

You could sue them. I think that is the only way to make them stop. Hold them responsible for their actions, because no one else will.

  • http://ringingliberty.com Paul

I know many don't like to get involved with their system, but someone needs to talk to a lawyer, and bring all the video evidence. It's the only way there's going to be any sort of accountability — or pressure on them to change.

  • NonEntity

Yep, that's the solution, SUE THEM! I'm sure that 'Judge' Burke will hand out justice in the fair and equitable manner he is so known for. HA HA HA HA HA

The only solution that I can see is that of changing the meme of government with the people who support it, i.e. the 'citizenry.' For this reason it is important to be calm and clear and simply reveal the hypocrisy and the thuggery for all to clearly see.

It wouldn't be burke .. and at least there would be video of the suit, so that the evidence of the corruption could be presented to the public.

Suits against the government have worked before. At the least it will keep them busy and make them sweat a little.

Kurt should definitely go after them legally. He has double vision and is in a wheelchair because of what their thug did to him — and his wife is also an eyewitness. I still can't believe "tripped and fell" is the best they've got …

  • Pete Eyre

Great job Smeg, Ian and the rest of the OTN fam. Y'all were rational, calm and compelling. There is no way these bureaucrats or their supporters can for one second justify their actions or unaccontability.

  • ART WALK-er

"…Its obvious, he thinks you’re crazy… and has automatically written off anything you say before you say it…." <—I agree completely. And, did you notice how often he interupted you? Guess listening isn't one of his strengths!…

  • http://www.obscuredtruth.com SamIam

(oops, this is smeg, not sam)

to be fair to john, this was edited, so many of his 'interruptions' were the result of editing for quicker pace. not that he DIDN'T interrupt ian several times; however, in the scheme of things, it wasn't really that big of a deal. it was WHY he interrupted that is the problem…

because it doesn't matter what ian said, john already had his mind made up on the matter. if he listened all the way through or never let ian get a word in, the result would have been the same.

  • Dr. Q

Geez, this guy might as well have stuck his index fingers in his ears and shouted "La la la la la la la, I can't hear you!" at the top of his lungs like a two year old. What a disgusting excuse for a human being.

  • libertydrew

you got to love the fact that police are trained to lie to us but if you lie to them it's a crime. i hope you run for office again and people are willing to work hard to get you elected. this double standard crap has to stop. it's like this every where and it's a shame.

keep it up guy's you bring me hope
