Woo!! I finally have a working internet connection!
Well, I feel like I’ve been living in the dark ages. Thank you, faithful subscribers of my blog, for holding in there. Tonight is THE NIGHT of the premier of “Derrick J’s Victimless Crime Spree” documentary and I’m feeling OVERWHELMED by all that there is to do, now that I finally have a reliable internet connection (which happened TODAY for the first time since I left the Shire 2 weeks ago).
Here’s what’s going on:
I want to be updating everyone with pictures, video, etc. BUT!!!
I used to do all that stuff in the Shire–-Keene, specifically, which is the liberty media capital of the world. My mom and dad don’t get what I’m doing at all and they’re like, “It’s great to see you! Now go do these chores.” And I’m like, “GUYS! I have a million and one things to do! People are counting on me to update them on all this exciting stuff that’s going on and–” nope….so I’ve been getting sunburn, bug bites, and developing blisters on my hands and feet as I attempt to reassemble my life after jail.
See, after jail, all my stuff was in boxes, in this big heap just waiting to be taken to NJ. But I didn’t have my car!! After waiting almost A MONTH for my car to be returned to me, I finally drove it down to NJ, where I worked my tuckus off cleaning and scrubbing it so that it would sell. It’s been for sale almost 2 weeks, and still no sale 🙁
Why does that suck? Because the laptop which I’m using to post this update is NOWHERE near powerful enough to run video editing software anymore. It’s my 6-year-old MacBook from college, and it’s ready to die, but like a geriatric in a nursing home, I am keeping it alive well past its expiration date. I was planning on selling the car, buying a laptop, and bada-bing! get right back into the swing of editing videos. Well…no car sale…no laptop. So here I am in limbo.
Also, my video camera broke before I went into jail. No big deal, I used one of the thousands of cameras lying around in the Shire ready for any activist to utilize. But here in NJ, that’s a big problem. I have nothing to take pictures or video with, so I can’t update the world on what’s going on except in text. BLAHHHH Who reads text? Let’s face it, the internet is about pictures and video. So I’m hoping to keep everyone’s attention for the next month as I figure all this out, get my car and some other things sold, and get the tools that I need to keep this whole thing running.
In the meantime, I’m DYING to change over my blog to another format that looks prettier/more professional/less cluttery, and I have some other needs for buying a domain name to use as a splash page or something so that folks can easily find me when they look me up. But I don’t know how to do that, so I’m figuring it out.
Basically, the whole story boils down to this: I’m working on it. I’m new at this. It’s going to be AMAZING when it happens. Bear with me. Please and thank you.
Oh and have I mentioned my Exile Tour starts August 18th?? It’s going to *BLOW YOUR MIND*, but I need a laptop, camera, microphone, and new phone that actually goes online before it can happen. And there’s less than 3 weeks!!! ((I could really use your help escaping the dark ages!!))
Love & Liberty, DerrickJ. <3
P.S. Extra special big thanks to those of you who have donated to help kick off the tour already who are not reflected in the fundraiser page. Notable mentions are David Krause, Ian Freeman, and James Cleaveland. I’m leaving some out, but you know who you are. 🙂
