Heroic activist, blogger, entrepreneur, and Free State Project participant James Cleaveland was sentenced in Judge Burke’s courtroom in Keene, New Hampshire for the charges of “disorderly conduct” and “resisting arrest”. His charges stem from a June 30th incident in which James was video recording police. According to officer accounts, James was ordered to move back from an “active scene,” and he complied. After complying with the first officer’s request, a different officer demanded he move back further. He refused and was arrested. (more…)
Today I attended and recorded the public arraignment of James Michael Phillips. The Keene Police charged Phillips with Second-Degree Assault. He will face that charge beginning this Wednesday, Aug 6 at 1:30p for a Hearing at Keene District Court. Part of his conditions set by Judge Burke included a no-contact order with Matthew Oldershaw (his victim). Judge Burke also gave an order that Phillips may not speak with Dorrie O’Meara about the case. Here is the full arraignment video:
This Friday was an eventful night. First, a man was arrested for honking his horn in support of activists. Then, my friends and I are threatened with arrest while trying to bail him out. He’s now sitting in jail for the weekend, and his car was impounded. The tow truck man accepted an offer by an activist to pay to tow the guy’s car to his home, but the police threatened to revoke the tow truck man’s contract with the city if he did.
The whole idea about police is that “society” gives up some rights and freedoms to a small group of people in order to gain some safety. The problem is that the people who are willing to give up their freedoms are already well behaved, and the people who behave badly are attracted to power. This arrangement turns a populations of good people into easy prey for tyrants, knowingly or unknowingly. Illustrated here:

Several NH activists attend a NH Supreme Court public hearing on cameras In NH courthouses. The recording took place in the court lobby prior to the hearing. There was a Bailiff who’s actions were a little bizarre to say the least. So bizarre that it necessitated an entire video of just his actions. Two activists describe an incident where this man intentionally nudged past them. The man then has stare downs with four different activists and a scream of rage directed at Kate Ager.
