New Hampshire Charity Feeds Children with Bitcoin

Shire Sharing is my favorite charity. It’s voluntary — People like you and me — NOT gun-funded government bureaucrats. The idea is simple: Raise money, buy bags of groceries, and deliver them to families who are less fortunate. Last year, they fed over 3,000 people! They even personalized each bag by household — because some have children, some are elderly and can’t cook anymore, and some have dietary needs like diabetes or vegetarianism. YOU can help Shire Sharing feed an entire family this Thanksgiving for just 35 bucks. They take bitcoin! (And of course credit cards too.) They have an all-volunteer staff, so 100% of your donation actually buys food. Compare that to 30% with government. Shire Sharing is Voluntaryism in action. Put your money where your heart is, and be the change you want to see. Learn more and donate today at ShireSharing.org

What a scam. You are not a real charity. Any “donations” sent to you cannot be written off on taxes. Derrick and the freekeeners are playing with words again. So this makes another lie by freekeeners.

The money doesn’t go to anyone in Keene. It goes to shiresharing.org.

Your statement here reveals that you don’t understand the difference between a charity and a nonprofit organization, Jacks. A charity is a voluntary organization set up to provide help for those in need. Nonprofit organizations, on the other hand, are a legal fiction. Such entities seek tax-exempt status under the guarantee that their surplus capital will be distributed for the purposes of achieving their stated mission instead of as profits. Not all charities are nonprofit organizations, Jacks. In fact most are not. Also, nowhere in this article, the video, nor on the Shire Sharing web site for that matter, was… Read more »

Actually, I do believe that they are both a nonprofit and a charity. What they are not is a 501(c)3 nonprofit – the sort to which donations are tax deductible. A lot of charities are registered in ways other than 501(c)3, because 501(c)3 costs a lot of money, and they would rather spend that money on actually helping people, instead of hiring lawyers to get their application through the quagmire at the IRS.

I think it’s great they want to feed 500 families this year. It’s to bad they stuff their propaganda in the bags along with the turkey. Since it is not a nonprofit organization, they don’t have to tell anyone where the money goes or what it is used for.

Propaganda has never been put into the bags. To what are you referring?

Flint

@Jacks: Do you have any evidence to support your claim that it is not a nonprofit organization?

Jumping Jacks

Snowdog (@SnowDog2003 Yes, the propaganda is delivered to the person you people give food too. I think it’s great you do this project. The reality is, it is still not charity when the organization continues to push political propaganda and intentionally seek public attention

“Charity doesn’t equal donation”. Zong Qinghou

So by your argument, progressive candidates shouldn’t be allowed to promote the social benefits of welfare and other entitlement programs for the economically disadvantaged because such political propaganda might divert public attention and support away from conservative candidates? You obviously need to be reminded that free expression needs to be respected for all activities, Jacks, not just the ones you approve of. That includes acts of charity.

Jumping Jacks

Drac Vermell – You have never said anything worth the time to really say anything to you. You can play your word games and it will never sway the real meaning behind this group of people. They do push their propaganda, and they are doing this to focus attention on freekeene and it’s ideology. I have already stated this and I am not accustomed to continue repeating my statements to someone who is only trolling for reactions.

And yet you’ve taken the time here, Jacks, and you’ve used it to type the same old rubbish you always type whenever you’re asked to address a serious question. As is typical with you, you fancy that such tripe actually constitutes a serious answer. So I suppose I’ll have to present my question in a different way, in hopes that it may be easier for you to digest. Please read the following carefully, Jacks: Do you think that acts of charity should have restrictions on speech, whether it consists of political, religious, or other types of ideologies? And if you… Read more »

Isn’t Shire Sharing based in Manchester? If so, how are they doing anything to focus attention on Free Keene?

Jumping Jacks

Drac Vermell – If I respond to you it’s for my own amusement. I enjoy reading your flustered words and ridiculous statements. You enjoy twisting words around to try and show whether you are smart or dumb. It is unclear. This is not a real charity. What they do is great, but when the organization does something to push a political agenda and draw attention to itself for alternate reasons.

Drac Vermell

You still haven’t examined the ramifications of my question, Jacks. Is this because you’re afraid to reveal your answer or is it that you just haven’t had enough time to come up with something that resembles an adult thought? Since you keep rehashing your usual battery of inarticulate statements (I like to refer to them as “Jacksisms”, by the way), I’m going to assume that it’s the latter. I’ll give you a little more time to come up with an adult answer, Jacks. Please give it the attention it deserves, Jacks, because these Jacksisms aren’t supporting your argument.
