When I checked my voicemail earlier today, I had received a call from Keene City Prosecutor, Chris McLaughlin. He dropped my Disorderly Conduct charges, for which I planned to attend trial tomorrow. This is welcome news, indeed.
June 28th, 2011, I was handing out “Don’t Take the Plea Deal” flyers with friend and fellow liberty activist, Jason Rapsher, in the first floor lobby of City Hall. While handing out flyers upstairs, Jason learned that our friend Ademo had been arrested. Knowing Ademo’s character, we believed his arrest to be unlawful and unnecessary. I took out my camera and asked Jason if he would record what is going on upstairs.
Rapsher recorded the lobby of Keene District Court for a few minutes before returning downstairs with my camera. I decided to take a look myself, and brought my camera along rolling.
As the video shows, I was only upstairs for a matter of seconds before bailiff Ron Duesevitch puts his hands on me, handcuffs me, and calls men with guns to take me away.
I was arraigned a few days later, charged with Disorderly Conduct, and given a trial date. I filed a Motion to Dismiss based on the Glik decision, to which I never heard a response. One day before trial, however, I missed a call from Chris McLaughlin, who notified me via voicemail that he had dropped my charge of Disorderly Conduct. He reminded me that I still face 5 charges from 2 other arrests.
