Conan and I were two of the only people who spoke against the proposal to regulate room-shares like AirBnB in New Hampshire (HB 1590) in the Commerce committee at the state house legislative office building on January 19th. Like the UBER / ride-sharing regulatory proposal, the existing regulated industry was present to call for more regulation, rather than freedom for everyone, which was Conan’s and my argument:

You should consider yourself lucky because the government allows us to take strangers into our homes for free and not send police to our houses for smoke detector violations. Wow, the representative just came out and said that this was about money. I guess it’s too bad about the whole police going after homeowners thing, we all don’t want that. I mean, in theory, we don’t want that, but our actions speak differently.
