Well well well. The Nashua Police have really been making their community safer. After a massive crack down on plant possession back during the NH Liberty Forum, the case of a priest for wanting to voluntarily exchange his money for the sexual services of someone on Craigslist is once again in the news.
“Investigators used an informant to post an ad offering adult services on Craigslist.org. Police said Ventura, a 31-year-old parochial vicar at St. John The Evangelist Church in Chelmsford, responded to the ad, showed up, handed over cash, and allegedly expected sex in return.”
I find it funny that on the same day that news is running about the Nashua Police spending time to set up people for victimless-crime arrests on Craigslist, their police chief is whining about his budget being cut. If his department has enough resources to attract people to his community with the intent on committing a “crime” then I have to wonder why it is that he claims to be underfunded for departmental operations.
If someone truly owns his or her own body, shouldn’t they have the undeniable right to do with it as they please?
Prohibition of anything just simply doesn’t work. The safest place in the United States to get the services of a prostitute would be in the State of Nevada where it is legal. The people who work in the prostitution industry in Nevada are tested weekly for STD’s. It is far safer because it is not prohibited.
Maybe if the Nashua Police stopped harassing people who committed victimless crimes they wouldn’t need more money. Just a thought.
