It has been some time now since I have shared thoughts or experiences here on the Free Keene blog as I have been dealing with personal issues surrounding the re-organization of my life after leaving the law enforcement profession.
I have been a mere mortal for about a year and two months now and throughout that time I have often found myself reflecting on things that I miss about my former career.
Whenever I start feeling a sense of loss or regret I remind myself of the countless victimless laws I used to enforce (and the subsequent victims I created).
Remember: when the state enforces a victimless law, it creates a victim.
I recently found myself crossing from Quebec, Canada into Vermont… and I decided to not answer any of the questions that the US Customs and Border Protection agents grilled me on. Here’s both what happened to me and some information to arm yourself with when dealing with the very dangerous federal government.
STATEMENT: In 1850 the Fugitive Slave Act was passed by the United States Congress. This law made it possible for the government to use violence to solve the non-violent “problem” of having cheap/free labor for a particular industry. Like all laws, this one was enacted after lobbying from players in the industries that used slavery.
It is my opinion that the United States Marshal and various other law enforcement organizations should have completely ignored this law.
QUESTION: Do you agree with me or do you think that the government agents “just doing their jobs” should have continued to do what the law stated.
I am particularly curious about the opinions of anti-FreeKeene.com’s readers.
You know…. as I read all the insults and hatred that is directed at both myself and fellow Free Keene contributors, I can’t help but think the vast majority of you making these rude remarks haven’t the slightest clue as to what exactly this blog is about. I think this because I’m fairly sure that if people really knew the logic behind things here that we would be supported, joined, and encouraged.
I think this because at one time I vehemently disagreed with Ian Freeman’s (the owner of this website) view of how a society can function without institutionalized violence. Not only do I now agree with him, I volunteer to help him by writing for his blog.
Our friend, super activist, and Keene resident Rich Paul continues to sit in jail (on purpose) in brave protest of the horrible drug war that infects our society. The drug war is the justification used by the government to steal a great deal of our freedom and is from my experience largely attributable to why so many people feel that the police hurt more than help. Like many brave souls before him, Rich continues to live without freedom so that one day a bad law/policy may come to a crashing end.
A Free Talk Live website contributor (thanks Xpansive) has submitted the following video to the new and improved FTL website which allows the listeners to suggest show content. I find the video touching… and I think that everyone, especially drug war supporters, should watch it. If you do not want to use mind altering substances, that is a respectable decision… just please don’t attack peaceful people who choose opposite.
Face it, citizen: judges have some sort of magical power that allows them to control men and women who carry weapons. Through a flick of the wrist and a wave of a pen one of these mythical creatures can command these men and women to violently drag you away and throw you in a cage for the simple act of not showing them your undying respect by standing when they enter a room. The men and women using violence as directed will never question what they’re being told to do.
Understanding and embracing the magical power these gifted people possess naturally leads to understanding the necessity of enacting a change to a New Hampshire law, RSA 502-A:23. It presently reads:
502-A:23 Judicial Robes. – The justice of a district court shall wear an appropriate black judicial robe whenever his court is convened in criminal or civil session. Such robes shall be paid for by the state.
Our friend and OTN star Luthor has suggested the law be amended to read as follows:
