No More National Callers to Talkback, Please!

I just got off the phone with Dan Mitchell, program director for 1290 WKBK here in Keene. Apparently the tremendous caller turnout we had on Saturday has upset some people and Dan got some complaints from listeners. (Of course, people are more likely to complain about programming instead of compliment.)

That said, he does have a point and that is that it’s not really appropriate for callers outside the Monadnock region of NH to be participating in a locally oriented show. Dan asked me to stop streaming the show and I managed to talk him into letting me continue to stream it so long as the outside-the-area calls stop. He says he does not wish to implement call screening and that they do have caller-ID in the studio to help them identify potential outside the area callers.

So, I can’t tell you what to do or prevent you from participating if you’re outside the area, but I can tell you that if you want to continue to listen to the live stream, then you should just allow local activists to call. If you’d like to call in, then you’ll need to move to the area, and this includes those listeners who are planning to move – it has been requested that you only call once you are here. Thanks for listening and participating in our weekly Talkback calls, and if you aren’t in the Keene area yet, come on up!

Record Number of Liberty Activists Call WKBK’s “Talkback”!

Radio TowerThe city councilors voted to steal some homes this week, so liberty activists turned out in record numbers as callers to WKBK’s “Talkback”, a show hosted by two councilors, Cynthia and Paula. This is the best episode so far. Activists pack the phones and when the statists get through all they have are their usual ad hominems and whining. Cynthia is clearly shaken by so many people pointing out that she and the other councilors were stealing, however steadfastly denies it by saying that it’s not stealing because it’s the law! Listen and be amazed, then mark your calendar for 9a-12p on Saturdays to join us for another listening and calling session in the Free Keene Chat and on-the-air on the Liberty Radio Network.

Better yet, join the fun here in Keene!

You’re invited to a special “Talkback” listening/call-in chat session from 9a-12p ET, Saturday, 4/4.

Radio TowerJust a reminder that tomorrow morning (Saturday 4/4), liberty activists in Keene and around the world will be listening to WKBK’s “Talkback” and calling in with a pro-liberty viewpoint. Now, this event happens on a weekly basis but I’m announcing it on the blog this time because just yesterday the city council here in Keene voted to steal homes from people. Would you like to share your thoughts with them? Please join us from 9am-12pm ET right here in the Free Keene Chat. You can listen to the show even if you are not in the Keene area on the Liberty Radio Network. The call in line is 603-357-1290. Hope to see you in the chat and hear you on the air!

Liberty Activists Call WKBK’s Talkback 2009-03-28

Radio TowerLiberty activists called WKBK’s Talkback this morning and discussed hemp, government and the problems it creates, the city of Keene funding a private gardening co-op with taxpayer dollars, Free Staters and peacefulness, cameras in court, motivations for disobedience, OTN Sam’s garden offer, the monopoly on violence, affecting change, spending others’ money, property taxes, voluntaryism, health codes, the Free State Project, marketizing services, and police. The smarmy statist calls in again to level his usual insults and ad hominems at liberty activists. We still do not know who he is. Fred Parsells claims in an email that he does not know who the mystery caller is, but he does appear to know that he works at Dartmouth.

If you are awake on Saturday mornings, we could really use your help! Please join us in calling the program with a pro-liberty viewpoint. Get details on when and how and discuss with other activists on this Free Keene forum thread.

UPDATE: City Councilors to Vote on Stealing Homes TONIGHT, 4/2 7pm

Just spoke with Mary Alther, the tax collector. She says there is no tax sale process here in Keene. It’s a “tax deed”, meaning the city council has to vote on whether to deed the properties over to the city, then the city will send eviction notices giving the families 30 days to leave the homes they thought they owned.

THIS IS BEING VOTED ON AT TONIGHT’S CITY COUNCIL MEETING!! 7pm, 2nd floor, City Hall.

Discussion is on this forum thread.

If the council approves it, eviction notices will go out the next day.
